The Price of Souls: Growing Pains
BOOK ONE in the Price of Souls series
A coming of age young adult saga. This is usually where an author might say 'If you enjoy Lord of the Flies, or Huckleberry Finn, then you will love this!' and Whilst that might be true, The Price of Growing Pains, is a truly unique story in its genre. A one of a kind epic tale of personal growth, ambition, compassion, and battling of the inner demons...
10 year old Damon grew up with bullies instead of friends. He fought loneliness and depression by hiding it and burying it down where the rest of his loving(mostly) family could not see. It was a relatively typical life for a boy growing up on a low class council estate.
Everything changes when an act of horror and violence arrives. Life changes in the blink of an eye and becomes the start of an epic journey of personal growth. Follow Damon as he grows into a man, shaped by the harsh, brutal, and all too relatable experiences in life.
Will he become the Hero? Or will he become the Monster? Will he even survive? Delve into The Price of Growing Pains' passionate telling to find out.
★★★★★ "This story started strong, and stayed that way all the way to the finish line. It is an incredibly moving journey and left me wanting more!" --Early Reader
★★★★★ "If you love stories of self discovery, this one is a must read. Such a thrilling rollercoaster of page turning adventure." --Critic Reviewer
★★★★★ "This is one of the best written stories I have ever read. It is a unique, and deeply crafted story with characters that you grow to love (and hate) throughout. Can't wait for more." --Early Reader
★★★★★ "The attention to detail in this book is astounding! The way Whitney takes real life experiences that many of us have faced, and writes them in such a raw and vulnerable manner is truly eye opening. It is such a great escape to get stuck into on the rainy nights and I have fallen in love with this series. Give it a try, you won't regret it." --Proof Reader

Christopher Whitney once again proves himself to be a Master Storyteller! We are able to experience Damon's life through his thoughts, his actions and reactions. We hear his fears and experience his joys and sorrows. Some chapters are a story into themselves.
I loved seeing life through the eyes of an innocent young boy and how his life experiences molded him. I fell in love with Damon and like Pinocchio, gave him life in my head and heart.
