Introductory Nursing Care of Adults

Rate this book
This medical-surgical text looks outside the acute care setting to expanding the role of the LPN/LVN in long-term care and the community. It covers nursing care of adults and the elderly with medical, surgical and psychiatric disorders. The first three units present patient care concepts, the health care system, the older patient, and physiologic responses to illness and medical-surgical care. These units should provide students with a solid foundation in pathological processes and medical-surgical interventions. Special attention throughout is given to gerontologic care, including separate chapters on falls, immobility, confusion and incontinence. Other units thoroughly cover psychiatric disorders, substance abuse and long-term care, as well as cancer and other medical-surgical disorders.
