Hell no! Hero f**ks married woman & gets beaten by woman's husband! Heroine's husband died three years prior and she is now having (in detail) sex with her brother-in-law! And that is all within the first 3 chapters! DNF!!!

If this is people's idea of a "romance" or "entertaining", there is something seriously wrong with you!

Yes, yes, nothing new here ... he turns his back on her, he fucks all the women around, he comes back just because things got difficult and of course, how could he not miss, he says he always loved her, right? Of course, she even tried to move on but always loved the jerk? Right? Certainly, nothing new here ...

======================

“Danielle, it’s only two years. The day of graduation I will be here to pick you up and take you back to Nashville with me.”

“How could I forget you? You’re my forever girl. I’ll always find my way home to you.”

“Yeah, he’d never have fucked you in the bathroom if he’d known you were married,” slurs Mark Orr, my bass player, and friend, as he staggers into a nearby table,

“Look, it concerns the label with all the negative press you’ve been getting here lately. Normally it’s any press is good press but since it came out that the woman involved was married it’s tarnishing your shine, so to speak,” he explains.

Country music fans like their stars to be wholesome, good old boys. Not a home wrecker.”

“Home?” I sputter. I’ve avoided the place for the last fourteen years.

Danielle. Lord, I haven’t thought about her in years.

I made a decision that changed the course of my life. One that didn’t include blue-green eyes and a sultry smile.

“People actually want to stay here?” I ask, disbelief dripping from my words. “Not everyone wants to run off the second they can, Zach,” she replies, her voice ripe with disapproval. “Some people want to remain close to their families.”

“I’ve been busy.” “Too damn busy to even visit your parents? Come home for Christmas? Is that too damn much to ask?”

The girl I loved and promised to come back for, taking her hopes and dreams with me. And left in the cold without a word later on.

“Zach, you haven’t given a shit about anything that goes on with the town for over a decade.”

“Exactly. You’re so self-absorbed that you don’t care about anything else.

“Why would you and Mom babysit?” “Do you think just because you abandoned Danielle that we did? That girl meant a lot to us, still does.”

“I didn’t forget, I couldn’t. But when I left, things changed, I changed.” “But did it make you a better man?”

“He left and never came back.”

“Why suddenly do you care where she is? It’s not like you gave a damn before.”

“When you’re not acting like a complete and utter jackass, I will be. But how you treated Dani? I’m gonna be on her side.”

But, man, the way you left her and then didn’t say a word was cold-hearted as hell.”

“Maybe I took the easy way out.” “There is no fucking maybe. You at least owed her a damn phone call or something.”

“Dude, I may not have seen you but a handful of times when I’ve come up to Nashville, but I’ve seen your interviews and what they write in the magazines. You come off as an arrogant, know it all whose shit doesn’t stink. If this is how you get treated regularly, I can see how it all went to your head.” “Tell me how you really feel,” I mutter.

“That asshole has some nerve showing his face here.” “It’s his home too, Jessa.”

“You can take your damn apology and shove it up your ass.” Her chair scrapes loudly across the floor when she stands. “Goodbye, Zach.”

“But she’s meant for bigger things,” I argue. “Her talent is wasted here.” “According to who? You? Who made you the one to make that decision?” Dad bites out. “You lost that right when you left her and never came back.”

Did she wait until I came back to town to start dating? Is she rubbing in my face what I lost when I left town? Did she have to pick such a damn good-looking guy?

“But you’ll boink your brother-in-law.” “That’s complicated, and it’s also over. We agreed that we need to quit using each other like that.”

3.75 stars rounded up.
This was a really sweet second chance romance.
There were some steamy moments when Zachary and Danielle reconnect after many years. Throw in a sweet little girl who loves her momma and lost her Dad and you can see where things are going.
I though the writing was good and the characters were good. It is not something that will leave a lasting memory, but still worth the read.

BOOKSCOOPULAR REVIEW

Tittle: Pieces of a Broken Heart (Whiskey Bend Series Book 1)
Author: Samantha Conley
Star: 3.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐
Would I suggest this book to my friend: Yes

This book is about a second chance romance where the main character Zach leave his hometown at age 18 and leave his girlfriend behind (Dani) to become a country music singer. His departure devastated and hurt his girlfriend feelings. After a few years both are doing their own things. Dani open a bakery at her town after her husband die (James) to take care of her daughter Lila.

Zach end up have to go back to his town because of the event that happen at the club where he end up having a sex with a married women at the bathroom. This event bring a bad image to Zach so his manager ask him to return to his hometown to avoid from this gossip. When he return he discover something about Dani and it make him feel jealous and trying to get back to his Dani and he feel regret about what he have done in the past.

Actually this is my first time reading a book from this author and this is my first review. Things that I like about this book is that the interaction about Dani and his daughter Lila. Lila is such a sweetheart. The things that I wish the author didn’t add in this book is the part Dani sex relationship with his brother-in-law.

Pieces of a Broken Heart is a second chance romance that makes your heart pitter patter and leaves the butterflies in your stomach hoping that Zach and Dani can find what they lost all those years ago. This is a story that pulls you in from the start and doesn't let you go until the end. As you read their story, you can actually see their story in country song being played on the radio. PBH is book that gives you all the feel you want in a second chance romance.

Samantha developed the characters so well, that you can see how over time they grew from kids in love to adults, knowing what their heart and soul wanted and needed. This book was amazing that I didnt want it to end. I can't wait for more in this new series.

Zach and Dani were high school sweethearts. Zach was two years older and left when he graduated school for Nashville. He left her and appeared to never look back. She was heartbroken.
Years later, Zach comes back to his hometown after a scandal.
These two see each other and sparks fly.
They have both grown and changed, but that attraction still exists.

I really enjoyed this one.
It felt a little like a story I have read before which is the reason I am rating it with four stars instead of five. I also felt she forgave him a little too easily. I would have made him beg a little more. But that's just my opinion.

This is book 1 in the series. This is a new to me author so I cannot compare it to previous books by the author.

4.5 Country Music Bad Boy Stars!!

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance.

This ain’t your mama’s second chance either. Danielle is strong and a bad a$$ in her own right. There was no twiddling her thumbs when Zach took off and failed to keep his promises. Nope, our girl moved on to bigger and better things. So, when Zach comes back he doesn’t find the lovesick girl he left and he’s going to have to work for his place in her life now.

I loved this book and I cannot wait for book 2. We met several characters who I’m super excited to learn more about.

I've read books by this author before, but this is the beginning of a whole new series. I can't help but be excited. I loved her first series so much, and I just know this might be a new favorite!

Zach left behind his hometown in a trail of dust, the minute he turned 18. He left behind everything he'd ever known, including his high school sweetheart, hoping to make it big in Nashville. He broke promises to come back for her after her graduation, breaking her heart into pieces. Eventually, Dani moves on with her life, finding love again, and having a child. Once again, she is heartbroken when she looses her husband to death. She goes back to her home town, picking up the pieces of her life, opening up her own bakery. She's doing pretty well, until Zach comes back home after many years away, building a name for himself as a country singer. Old feelings are dragged back up, leaving confusion in its path.

First impression of this book? I really didn't like Zach to begin with. He was an arrogant playboy, who didn't think about the consequences of his actions, or who could be hurt. Even as he got older, he still held on to the superstar life style. This was a great example of a second chance romance, from an author who isn't afraid to tackle the characters that you love to hate. I have to admit, as the book progressed, and the characters developed, I began to see Zach become the man he always had the possibility to be. It just took a good woman to make him see it! This is definitely a book that will pull on your emotions!

My rating: 4-stars.

The book opens with a surprising scene. It caught me off guard. I wasn't sure if I would be able to continue reading. I did cause I love Ms. Conley's writing.

There is a lot going on with the characters in about the first half of the book. The story is very fast-paced. I had to re-read some of it to be sure I understood what was going on.

I liked the main characters, Dani and Zach. I didn't really feel a connection to them though. The secondary characters are interesting to read. I'm hoping each of them get their own books.

The second half of the book is even more faster than the first half. There's a lot going on and a lot to remember.

I don't wanna call them plot holes but there were a couple of situations that weren't answered. At least I don't think they were. Maybe they'll be answered in the next book.

I did like the characters crossover at the end of the book. And that ending! I hate cliffhangers. I need the next book now.

Overall I think it was a good read. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This is the first book I've read by Samantha Conley. Overall it was a sweet second chance romance. I liked both Danielle and Zach, and I think they made a great couple. The story had plenty of romance, humor, and real life "stuff" that they had to deal with. My only issue was the addition of characters and drama that really served no purpose to the overall plot. I was ready for a love triangle with the introduction of *spoiler* Carter and the emphasis on how much he wanted to date Dani. She finally agrees to go on a date with him, decides maybe she'll see him again, and then suddenly she's kissing Zach and we don't hear anything else about Carter. There's also some drama near the end that seemed a little over the top, and unnecessary to get the author's point across. Aside from that it was a nicely written book and I'd read more in this series.

Zach had dreams for a better life outside of his hometown for both himself and his girlfriend Dani so he up sticks and leaves at 18 promising Dani he would be back for her once he makes it big in the music industry but he never did ....
Now Zach is back in town laying low and Dani is also back trying to move on with her life after having endured even more heartbreak after Zach left her and never contacted her again. Now it is time for both to face their past and decide where to from here along with Zach learning what family is all about and what he has missed out on when he left.
This is a fantastic second chance love story that will have you laughing, wanting to cry, wanting shake both Zach and Dani, fall in love with those that live in Whiskey bend and most of all want Zach and Dani to finally get their happy ever after with each other!

This story was good. I liked the characters and the premise overall. It is a sweet albeit somewhat predictable read. The single mom troupe is one of my favorite. You would have to have a heart of stone if you didn’t love the precocious adorable three-year-old little girl. Our hero is a country star which is a nummy factor too.

The coming home again element and the scene with the brother-in-law both were hard to believe. I like them as concepts for this book to keep things intriguing and spicy but we weren’t given enough details to make it believable.

Overall I think this has everything that keeps me reading a romance. So I definitely would recommend. I would give it 3.5 stars.

Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

I liked the writing style and the set up for the series. What I didn't care for as much was he never really convinced me he was sorry for not keeping his promise and I really didn't need the details with her BIL....talk about being there for each other.
