Een ‘handleiding’ voor de student kunstgeschiedenis, die evenwel blijft steken in grove algemeenheden, gemeenplaatsen en aanbevelingen met weinig meerwaarde.
An excellent handbook for the student studying, or thinking of studying, Art History at a graduate level, or even at Masters level. Less of a 'what to study' and more of a 'how to study', this book is jargon-busting (and -interpreting), methodical and intellectual, as well as very aware of where it sits in Art History's interpretation.
While this book was certainly aimed directly at 1st year students it was in no way inspiring. The tone was dry and inaccessible considering the audience. It alerted me to the thought that art crit could be appreciated for it's own end but it didn't really explore this through enough variety of texts. The resources at the end were good and the interviews with those in industry would have been very helpful for a student.
