Well written, concise and pro-democracy history of the turbulent years when another Portuguese revolution destabilised the country and threatened her with a Communist takeover. Charts the rise and fall of General Spinola, and the rise of Lieutenant Eanes and Mario Soares. Personally, I would favour the 'fascist' preferences of the north, but a moderate socialism is better than an atheistic communism.
