Down With the King of the South
Meet Jashae Johnson. She’s well known throughout Miami, but most know her as Giovonni “Trip's” girlfriend and baby mama. They have a ghetto love story. The two of them had been together for almost twenty years. They have a love that most people would ask Jashae just how the hell does she do it? Not because love is hard, but because Trip is in prison serving a life long sentence, for a murder that he committed years ago.
Then, you have Toddrick King, known in the streets as “Miami.” Women will pretty much sell their souls to be with a man like Miami. Not only is he a well-known retired boxer, but he’s handsome, rich, and he knows how to treat a woman. Two things are stopping Miami and Jashae from being together, and that’s Jashae’s love for Trip and because Miami and Trip were once friends.
Then, we have Mahogany, Jashae's best friend. Such a beautiful woman, with such an ugly soul. Mahogany can literally have any man in the world that she wants, but she’s not too fond of falling in love. Well, that’s until she meets Miami’s cousin, Jabari. Will Jabari be able to change Mahogany’s outlook on love? Does Jabari even want love himself to change Mahogany’s mind on such a thing?
Although this is a love story, it’s deep; it’s sad; it’s dark, it’ll make you question why certain things happen in life. For Jashae, one would think that losing her boyfriend to the system was the worst thing that could happen to her, but who would have ever thought that something else would happen in her life that would make that situation seem minor?

Raw emotions
I almost didnt/ couldn't finish this book... I cried so hard everything was blurry. I couldn't take that 💔 heartbreak.
Trip is the most selfish person ever!! First off how do you expect a woman to stay with you, that's relatively still young and you're doing a LIFE SENTENCE???!!!!! Im surprised Shae has held him down this long. He going around getting pleasure and she hasn't in 10 years!!! I can't wait for her to wake the heck up and FINALLY leave him alone!
Mahogany and Jabari are crazy funny... I just love them! I hope they blossom into something horrendously beautiful 😂....

Great Read
This book pulled on my heart strings, had me going through so many emotions. Enjoyed the storyline, plot and these characters and I couldn't put it down. It flowed really well at a steady pace and was interesting and entertaining. My heart really went out to Jashae and it's like I felt her pain. Trip, is so freaking selfish and self-centered and I'll be glad when Jashae finally see him for who he really is. I really like Miami for her, he's her calm and peace. Also, I can't wait for Taylor to meet karma. Hopefully, the truth about Vonte comes out also. After that ending, I can't wait to see what happens next....on to the next installment. Great job Diamond Johnson.

I need part 2!
I don’t know where to start Vonte and Jashae relationship was beautiful. To say she was devasted by his death is an understatement. I wanted to cry right with her. Taylor was too sneaky I hope karma gets her because she played with people emotions. Jashae and Miami need to get together. I don’t care if trip don’t like it he is locked up for life and still trying to control Jashae. Mahogany has met her match in Jabari and hopefully they are honest with each other and something can really develop.

I don't know how much pain and heartbreaking one person can take. I can't wait for Trip and Taylor to get their karma (just evil)! I really want her and Miami to fall in love. Jeshae need to leave Trip alone period.. Mahogany and Jabari need to get their acts together instead of acting like they don't care about one another! This book had me crying my eyes out
Diamond Johnson, I can honestly say that no book has ever had me crying to the point where I had to put it down and walk away. I am a single mother of a son. I put myself in Jashae’s shoes. The tears would not stop. This book is so well written. I can’t wait for part 2.

Too Much!!!
The cover and title does this book no justice.. The storyline in itself will have you crying 😢 real tears for Shae as a mother.. Trip and Taylor’s were both wrong how they acted.. Miami got his hand full after the secret was revealed.. Bari is the wild child.. this is my favorite book this year so far.. you guys must ready part one of this series, you will not be disappointed 👍🏽👍🏽

Diamond know she know how to make her readers cry. I'm loving this series already. I swear I wanted to throw my kindle across the room once I found out what Taylor did. I'm ready for things to blossom between jashae and miami. I feel like with that bomb he dropped on her at the end they about to get close. Mahogany and jabari is a hot mess! I want to see them two try a relationship. I can't wait for the next book.

Took me several hours to read because it was so emotional..I was in tears when shae broke down in the hospital..Being a mother that's something i never want to experience.. and that lil taylor girl i knew she was up to no good.. hope the truth is found out and lock her butt up.. vonte would have been alive if it wasn't for her.. can't wait for pt 2!

Diamond girl I really felt Jashae pain I cried real tears she suffered so much loss. Giovonte was a great kid just caught feelings for the wrong girl. This was a pretty good read... This book read at a steady pace... There was moments that had me really in my feelings... I mean I was mad, hurt and shocked... I guess you can say a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster... just when I get over one emotions... I am hit with another and another... Now this... I just can't...
I really liked Jashae... She was such a good woman with a good head on her shoulders... She was an amazing mother... And to much of a loyal girlfriend to a no good man named Giovanni... And because of him being in jail for life... There is nothing that he could do for her... But you know like most men... He was doing his thing while in jail... But had the nerve to want Jashae to be single and faithful to him... I was like why... That is not fair... Giovanni will never get out so he is being selfish by expecting Jashae to be faithful to him...The moment that she says that she is tired from work he had the nerve to get mad and tell her that he will call another girl up there... She should have left him alone then... But nope... She is a girl in love... Not only that but she is out here raising their 17 year old son on her own and has been since he was 7... When is enough gonna finally be enough... Luckily for her she has her best friend Mahogany... This is the type of friend that we all need... She has stepped in so much and helps Jashae with Giovonte... I mean she took on that daddy role... And because of that Jashae was able to make it this far...
Giovante is doing big things... He has a good head on his shoulders and loves his mother like no other... But he is young and let a young girl kind of distract him... He didn't know any better... Giovante is on his way to collage and more than likely the NBA... but quickly things turn upside down and everyone's world is shattered...
Miami is a old friend of Jashae's that is a boxer... He comes and checks on Jashae and Vonte every now and then... But there seems to be a little crushing on both Jashae and Miami's part... But as we know... This can't go nowhere... But he does play a major part in helping both Vonte and Jashae... But Giovanni does not like it one bit... And his hurt, pride and anger get the best of him and now he will have nothing...
Jashae's world was shattered and it took her a long time to try to find some type of normalcy... Just when that starts to happen... The rug is snatched from under her again... How will she recover from this... Will Miami be what she needs or will she push him away and self destruct... Let see how this all plays out in part 2...

She was a teenage mother at thirteen she had a good support system her grandmother who raised her while she went to school. Trip was the love of her life who she had so much loyalty for even though he took her for granted. Toddrick Miami King was a good friend he had a crush on her but he wouldn't get up on her because of Trip. Giovonte Young was Jashae only child he was a senior in high school who had everything going on for him. He was good student and a great basketball player. College scholarships coming in from all over. He had a asthma attack and went into cardiac arrest died too young. Jashae took her son death and went I into a deep depression and wanted to give up on life. Then their was Taylor the girlfriend who played Giovonte and pretending to be pregnant by him when she was pregnant by another dude. Jashae her best friend Mahogany has met her match Miami cousin Jabari who was cocky and rude who she was trying not too fall in love because she was afraid of being hurt. This was good...
I head about this book in a review for something else the author wrote and I’m glad I decided to read it. Jashae was hard working, and a good mother. Although she was a very young mother she did all she could for her child, and she made her own way. I couldn’t imagine losing one of my children. And just when she was getting back to her...BOOM!
Trip is a F!&k boy!!! You get your ass locked up for the rest of your natural born life knowing you had a whole family that needed you and then expect me do a whole bid with you?!? But yet you fucking on the next bitch and I can’t get none and you the one in jail?!? Oh hellllll NO!!! He called Jashae selfish but he is the one that’s beyond selfish and then after she buried HER son you put your hands on her. Smh I wouldn’t dare think about Trip ass again. I swear Diamond you are a genius. When Vonte died I swear I felt that sh**, I literally felt like I was going through the experience myself that's how I know that you're a great writer and your a beast at it. I'm glad that Taylor got busted but I just wish it didn't have to ruin Jashae all over again. Miami is such a sweetheart and I can't wait til they take it to the next level because I know once Jashae finds out about Trip she ain't gone want no parts of him. Mahogany done got her feelings involved but for some reason I don't think she was alone with getting her feeling involved, Jabari probably going to deny how he feels until he can't no more BUT will it be too late for him and Mahogany. Babyyyyyyyyyyyyy this read was EVERYTHING!!!! Can't wait for part 2

A disloyal girlfriend that is lying about who her babies father is. Then the best friend who is there even though you pushing g them away. Miami is Jashae's saving grace but she doesn't know it yet. They can be great together but she has to let him in. Now Vonte passing was pretty sad and I shed some tears but this whole baby thing is going to really break her down. Now Mahogany and Jabari are something else but it always happen that way. As soon as you feel the walls come down something bad happens. Even though he didn't know she was on the phone he should said those things. Yes they started out as friends with benefits but they started doing things to catch feelings and then came the heartbreak. Part 2 is going to be crazy!!!

Yeah Good Stuff
This was and is some of the best writing and storytelling.The brings you into such an unbelievable experience and puts her foot on the gas.We meet three people that are caught in such a situation that's its just like wow!. When we met Jashae her man is doing a life sentence for a bad decision and she's been doing this time right along with him.We met Trip and we find out that he's a trickster and is holding on to something he should let go.This is filled with many trap doors an d if you not looking that's when you fall.The writing is on point and you are going to love being pulled into the net.I can't wait for a few questions to be answered and a few situations to be resolved.

Diamond you never cease to amaze your work is so bomb I literally can’t put into words how DOPE you are. Your books always seem like a page from real life. Omg where do I start I cried I mean real hard tears 😭 when Jashae loss Gevontae a hurt that I would never wish on my worse enemy, only for her to have high hopes that she would at least have a piece of her son then that smut bucket Taylor pulls the crap she pulled 🤬 & Mahogany & Jabari are HILARIOUSLY FUNNY , heading to book 2 neow to see what takes place between those two . Trip is wack for the stunt he pulled & I can feel it in my soul that Miami is going to be everything Choc needs and more . Great 👍🏾 Job ❤️

WHEW CHILE THE DRAMA WAS REAL‼️‼️‼️
This was a very good read and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I laughed, I cried, and I cussed muthafuckas out all while reading this drama. I can honestly say that this is one of the best stories that I’ve read from this author. I read it in one sitting. It was definitely a very good, albeit emotional read.

Sad
This book was good so far but sad because a young life was lost due to a person being petty and only thinking of herself. Trip he is something else he doesn't want Jashae to move on but he can do what he want even if he's in prison that's not cool let that women live her life. All he is doing is bringing her down instead of letting her move on yes the love each other but why do he feel she should wait on him knowing he'll never come home. Miami I am routing for him and Jashae to spark something up lol. Jabari he's something else and Mahogany she seems to have put feelings into him without him realizing that he done messed up. Taylor she is scum for what she did to Vonte mom she knew this would hurt her but didn't care at all.
This book was good so far but sad because a young life was lost due to a person being petty and only thinking of herself. Trip he is something else he doesn't want Jashae to move on but he can do what he want even if he's in prison that's not cool let that women live her life. All he is doing is bringing her down instead of letting her move on yes the love each other but why do he feel she should wait on him knowing he'll never come home. Miami I am routing for him and Jashae to spark something up lol. Jabari he's something else and Mahogany she seems to have put feelings into him without him realizing that he done messed up. Taylor she is scum for what she did to Vonte mom she knew this would hurt her but didn't care at all.

Tear jerker for sure!
I should have been prepared to go through the emotions when I downloaded this book...my girl Diamond always have me in my feelings rather good or bad! I don’t want to give to much away but I do know that God only gives his toughest battles to the strong and that Jashae is very strong she will push through...she just has to find herself without her son and without Trip annoying butt...how you in jail barking orders to somebody ugh I can’t wait for the boss up for Jashae ik it’s something coming.

This book pulled on my heart strings so bad!! I can't. Believe that sneaky 😾 lil girl Taylor!! She deliberately lied to that boy about being pregnant with his child...And because he had no real energy for her about the baby she killed that boy... On top of that she lied to his mother who will be 4eva broken behind him being lost!! I felt that pain in my soul!! Oh and that trifling selfish nucca Trip..... It will do him well to let tf go frfrfr!! Into part 2!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟READ indeed!!

This book is really good... You will need a box of tissue for some parts... Shae is so loyal to her man it’s sickening especially since he’s doing him... I really never liked Taylor especially after what she did... Jabari and Mahogany are crazy and I feel like that chic called her on purpose... I feel like Jabari and Mahogany would be a great match for each other... Miami I love his character so much... I hope Shae and Miami will he more than just friends and she leaves Trip alone

Diamond Johnson know she be writing these books cause dang I didn’t expect her son to pass. Trip gotta be the craziest man cause why would I hold you down and you doing life while still messing with females but I gotta sit home sad tf. Mahogany and Jabari too aggravating lol just talk and express y’all feelings. Taylor was dead wrong cause you did all that for his attention when it ain’t even his baby smh just reckless and childish. Please let Jashae be okay cause sis don’t need no more setbacks

Diamond knows how to take a person through some emotions okay. Like for Vonte to pass I was so damn torn. I love reading her books because she be penning the pen. She is so raw and uncut with her work and don’t care about no happily ever after. Mahogany and Jabari have a bomb story that I know is not finished. They are so toxic for each other, but perfect at the same time. I know Miami is about to put Shae back together. This book definitely had me on my toes and is a 10/10 a must read.

IDK why I read this book. I already knew it would have me emotional cause Diamond Johnson loves to do that lol. I started this book at 630 this morning and it's 844 and I'm done. I did not put it down. It was so good. I can't wait to read part 2. Gosh, Taylor...stupid. Trip...Stupid. Mahogany and Jabari...I can't wait to see where they go. Wow, how much is one woman supposed to take? Nothing good will ever come to Trip or Taylor! Both of them taking Jashae through all the extra drama as if she hadn't just lost her son. Miami deserves to be the man to love Jeshae instead of her doing a life sentence with Trip. Mahogany and Jabari need to get their acts together instead of acting like they don't care about one another! Waiting for part two!

Amazing
I love the direction that the author took with this book, everything I thought would happen didn’t happen and I’m glad it wasn’t a typical story line. This was an amazing read. I can’t wait to see how everything plays out with Shae and Miami. I’m hoping that there’s some type of way that Taylor baby is Vonte just to give some peace to Shae. I’m low key hoping that mahogany and Jabari are able to work out whatever it is that they have going on.

Another lit read. Some typical situations, but Diamond is also getting good at adding new twists and plot lines to her books too. I'm glad she's possibly picked up on prior feed back from others (or maybe just me) that some of them seemed the same. I've read pretty much all of her books though, and she's been switching it up and throwing in monkey wrenches in the last year or so. Good job. I've already got all the other installments, so on to reading those.
