Creating with the Creator:: Connecting people to the heart of God through art.

Create. This can be a terrifying word for so many. And yet, somewhere along the way we forgot we were designed to do just that. We increasingly miss the beauty of reflection, creativity, and the intimacy with God that creating brings as our world often values productivity and product. We were created to create, from craftsman to novice; from ministry leader to searcher. Not only for our own healing and joy, but for the freedom it brings to the world around us. This forgotten tool of creativity has been tucked away in our closets with our kindergarten crayons and longs to resurface. These stories offer simple tools and ideas to help engage people with the arts so they might be used for their God-given freedom.

Very vulnerable and insightful on how to encourage and foster this unique way God made us. Nearly brought me to tears reading some pieces that sounded just for me.

I have a friend who is passionate about arts ministry. She is going to —hopefully —be taking a class from Ashley in April. I have been sort of on the outside looking in. Not really sure where God is leading me in all of this. This book was hard for me to put down because it is so much more than just being gifted with a talent. It is using this gift and merging it with the Love of Jesus Christ. Then getting that message out to others through the use of the arts. Ashley’s writing was so easy to understand. God does have a calling for me and I need to pray and see where my gift is going to help me lead others to Jesus. I highly recommend for all artists of all the arts read this book. I loved it. I’m so grateful to God for this journey even if I don’t know where it is going. Read this book artists!!

Creating with the Creator is a beautifully written book that dives into everyone’s potential and calling to be a creator. Whether it’s creating a painting, baking a cake, setting the table for an event, crafting a lesson to teach, or coming up with a creative solution to a problem, creating awakens these callings within us. Ashley’s stories are honest, vulnerable, heart warming, and thought provoking. This book addresses the issue of the Church’s short comings in response to its artisans. However Ashley’s stories and heart paint a picture of hope for what God is already stirring in hearts and minds.

This book has shaken the creative boat of my mind. I have seen my gifts of words in a totally different light. So many powerful lines that have helped me shift my perspective to not seeing these gifts as my own for my own purposes, but how in conjunction with the Creator, my gifts have a much wider purpose than I could ever imagine. If you’re a creative with a faith, a creative of ANY kind, this book is for you. Prepare to be 🤯

Took me forever to actually finish reading this and I did find myself skimming through a lot towards the end though. But I like the sentiment of creating as a means of connecting spiritually with God.
