A great quick read that introduces you to Sheila English's reinvention of Frankenstein and a what if he was still alive scenario. Adam Frankenstein chooses to keep his long seemingly endless existence to save the one creature who has been loyal and loved him unconditionally, his immortal dog, Bella. After seeing Adam walking after wounds that should have killed him Rebecca Hughes has no choice but to believe him when he discloses his history. She represents a true partner, someone who can accept him and appreciate who he is as a person and not the monster legend. She also has a strong moral fiber and has no problem calling her partner out when he seems to step away from her accepted belief. The two work well together as they fight to save Bella and other dogs from a dog fighting ring and bring those running it, the real monsters to justice. Well written, well drawn, story! Look forward to more about Adam Frankenstein, Rebecca Hughes, and Bella, in the comics and in novels! If you want more back story on Adam I highly recommend two short story collections Ms English has written...Adam Frankenstein: A Collection of Short Stories and Adam Frankenstein: Search for a Soul.
