Puppies are supposed to get into mischief, but I seem to get into more than my fair share. My name is Sophie and I'm a boxer puppy with a big personality. I am full of energy with a curious nature that gets the best of me, so let's cause some trouble
Most kids love reading about puppies and dogs and if it’s a happy book with a good ending, they especially like it. Sophie’s Tail is a story about a puppy being adopted by a loving family where she and Jax, another dog, live in a caring home, play together. and enjoy the best life. Sophie takes the reader through a typical fun day. There were a few exciting moments like the visits to the lake, to the pet store, Sophie’s first experience of potty training, and her going to dog school.
However, the story is mostly telling. There are very few scenes of showing or action. While written from Sophia’s point of view, the main character, this could have been an action pack adventure of a happy two-month-old puppy leaving the pound going to live with a good family.
Usually, books written for kids are not single-spaced and the quotations are in paragraph format. A lot of the sentences in Sophie’s Tail begins with “I” and are very short. This makes the ideas choppy, prevents the sentence/story from flowing smoothly, and therefore, prevents the young readers from enjoying what could have been a wonderful story.
Sophie's Tails is a cute read. I read this over a couple nights as the bedtime story for my kids. They wanted me to read it all in one sitting but I made them wait. This is a cute story through boxer puppy, Sophie's eyes. Sophie get her self into trouble but is a fun puppy. We can't wait to dive into the next one and see what Sophie is up too.
