I was dismayed to learn that my county's library system only had one book on motorhome/RV travel, and even more disappointed that this was the one title that they chose to purchase.
The comments/reviews on the back of the book are misleading - this is NOT a "reference book" or "guide." It is more of a memoir, ane one with unfortunate religious overtones. It does include a checklist at the back of the book, but when I compared it to my own, mine was actually more comprehensive. (And I've never been inside of an RV. Hence the desire for a decent how-to book!) My list would NEVER include a bible or tips for finding worship sites "for the sabbath" while on the road!
Clearly, I didn't appreciate the blessings and Christianity plugs, which made it even more disheartening that this is the only option the library had to offer.

We have a motorhome, and we thought this 50-cent book, which we picked up at a thrift store, would be useful. And it might be, if we could read beyond the day-to-day, minute-to-minute trivia in the school of "first we drove to the airport, then we parked the car, then we walked to the check-in desk, then we waited, then we got on the plane, then we flew to Houston, then we got off the plane" that I used to see in creative writing classes--but of course, I made my students stop doing that. I didn't mind the religious stuff--chacun a son gout--but the pace drove me nuts, and I kept thinking, "okay, lady, get on with it." She apparently fancied herself a writer and spent every spare moment when she wasn't praying, jotting down minutiae, but we didn't find anything in the book we hadn't already discovered for ourselves. It was worth the 50 cents.

I thought this book was going to be about how to travel in your motorhome. Instead it is a diary of a very religious housewife and her husband ,who has a temper, who take to the road on vacations.
The book is awful. When they decide to buy the motorhome, she feels guilty because "there are so many people out there who have no homes." Are you kidding me? Retirement is for doing for yourself and enjoying life! You earned it!
And all of her whining about being a woman and having to drive the motorhome because of her husband's bursitis? I wanted to gag. There are millions of women who drive trucks and motorhomes every day. Wake up and get out more!
The religious crap in this book drove me crazy and I took it back to the library and chose a different book. If you are into feeling guilty about retiring and enjoying life - this is the book for you.
Yuck.

The author tells the true story of her and her husband's decision to buy a motorhome and their first motorhome trip. Very interesting insights into the real world of motorhome travel.
