Christmas Crosscheck

Rate this book
Bryan’s relationship with Georgiana was unconventional from the start, but they made it work. They were inseparable from Day One, despite all the reasons that should have kept them apart. After only dating for a short nine months, Bryan’s knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with Georgiana, and he’s ready to propose in a big way—on Christmas Eve, in front of both their families.

As confident as Georgiana is in their relationship, she’s incredibly nervous to meet Bryan’s parents. She’s hosting Christmas Eve dinner for both of their families and placing a huge amount of pressure on herself to make sure it’s the perfect holiday for everyone. Georgiana worries that she won’t be able to bridge the gap between her loud, raucous family and Bryan’s sophisticated, well-educated parents.

Both their plans go awry as their families struggle to find common ground. Georgiana is sure the day will end in disaster while Bryan waits patiently for the right moment to get down on one knee. Every obstacle they encounter feels like a crosscheck to the heart. Will Bryan get to pop the question, or will disaster strike and tear them apart?

Jaymee Jacobs is a USA Today best-selling author, and author of the Dallas Comets series. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in English literature and a psychology minor.

Her books have the same two themes: hockey and the "millennial" experience. The first is because she's a die-hard fan (particularly of the Pittsburgh Penguins). The second is because she felt that there weren't any books to which she could personally relate. So she began to write the stories she wanted to read. Her books spotlight those in the up-and-coming generation as they navigate this new era of ubiquitous technology, online dating etiquette, and what it means to "adult."

When she's not writing, you'll find Jaymee curating her cats' Instagram account, listening to true crime podcasts, scrolling through Pinterest for fructose-free recipes, or yelling at the TV during Penguins games.

A short cute story. Georgiana and Bryan’s story wasn’t the traditional story from the beginning. Bryan is the top defenseman on the Dallas Comets hockey team and Georgie is the the “go-to” girl for the comets handling the needs of the team and players. They fall in love, Bryan goes to her Dad for permission, gets it and then to his parents for his Nana’s ring. He wants to propose at Christmas when both families come together for the first time. His parents are very straight lace while hers are down to earth. Georgie wants to impress his family and works very hard on Christmas dinner, even making the dishes his family is used to besides what her family likes. Things don’t quite go as planned. Dinner wasn’t great, family football a disaster and the proposal? Read it and see what happens!

This was a cute short story but their story started out in the first book of this series. This book can be read as a stand a lone. Georgie and Bryan are in love and have been dating for a while. Bryan wants to propose to Georgie at Christmas. Georgie is meeting his parents for the very first time and wants to impress them. As we all know Christmas can be a very stressful time without all of these added pressures. As this book shows things do not always go the way we want them too. Does he get to propose? Do his parents like Georgie? Pick up the book and find out. You will not be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cute and fun story

Georgie and Bryan have been dating for about 8 months. Georgie is hosting her first Christmas and is meeting Bryan's parent for the first time. Bryan wants to propose to Georgie on Christmas Eve but everything keeps going wrong. Is this a sign that maybe its too soon?

Christmas Crosscheck revisits Bryan and Georgiana in Jaymee Jacobs’ Dallas Comets series. Bryan and Georgie first met in the first book of the series and this Holiday novella has them celebrating the holidays with both of their parents. The introduction of two families can be an interesting narrative and this novella is no exception!
I loved that Jaymee revisited this awesome couple again. Both Bryan and Georgie have their reasons for wanting the whole holiday to be perfect, so reading the ups and downs of their holiday was quite the adventure.
Jaymee’s stories are always so touching and heart-warming. The Dallas Comets have become such lovable characters that reading her series always feels like a warm hug. I love it!
