David feels little control over his life these days. The communications company where he works is downsizing. Half of his friends have already lost their jobs, and he's wondering if he'll be next. He's overworked, overtired, and depressed. So when his wife, Marcia, encourages him to "Get away. Spend a day out in the woods and decompress!" he takes her up on it. But David soon gets more than he bargained for when an ordinary walk in the woods takes an unexpected turn, and a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger changes David's life forever.

I have a really hard time giving a book 1 star, especially a Christian author, but if I'm honest, I have to give the book 1 star. I did not like this book at all. I usually like novellas, but this one either didn't have enough plot because it was only 100 pages or it just shouldn't have been written. I couldn't figure out how the main character had such an epiphany based on the not really very deep conversations he had with an angel. I also did not get the subplot with the old men the man was having a problem with. I would not recommend taking the hour it takes to read this book. Sorry.
The book reach such depths with experience. It is not the usual as expected. It doesn't have to pretned that it is likeable becaise that it not hwat this book intends to be.it touches on a very ripe experience of communing with the celestial and finding the truth with the faith.
This book bears a message not intended for all to understand.
I'm not particularly fond of short stories, but as inspirational writing goes, this was a gentle reminder to listen to the voice of God and live by doing the next right thing. No
Fictional, rather lightweight attempt to explore the connection between one man in despair and God. I found it superficial on most levels, and there are far better books available that explore man's relationship with God, doctrinally, philosophically, theologically, and even fictionally. This one tried too hard to be inspiring and profound, and accomplished neither.
A delightful light read. Simple and short. It attempts to illustrate why everyone needs God. It describes a longing imprinted on our hearts the day we were born, a longing to reconcile with our creator. I find the simplicity simply gratifying. Definitely recommend it. 104 pages, what do you have to lose?
This book did not live up to my expectations. RE Man in emotional termoil meets with a messenger from God. Not enough depth to the story, hoped it would get much better. Fortunately a short read so did not waste too much time on it.
This book was indeed written with good intentions. For a short read, it was alright. Good enough that I finished the book and didn't put it down immediately. However, I found the story to be a bit too common and lacking.
