Extremely important issue for a children's book to have. This type of book should be in every school and public library so a child who has this problem can come across it and know they are not in the wrong and alone and that there are options for them.
If a child has this problem they are likely to be one of the most helpless and alone in regards to what they can do about it so all avenues of help that can reach this child - even just a book - can try to seal any cracks that one may fall through.
This book is also important for others that have not been directly affected by this problem and even those who perpetrate it themselves, perhaps unconsciously or consciously but swept it under the mantle of vague unexamined annoyance and something not recognised in mainstream society and called out much yet. Naming it helps identify a sometimes hazy, difficult to grasp type of abuse. And overtly identifying it as the abuse that it is alerts people to call it out or watch for it in themselves and refrain from doing it. Of course it occurs and applies to all ages as well.
I give it a 3.5. Such an important issue that I haven't seen addressed in any other children's books. But more options for a target, perhaps the action of persistence until heard in case a first attempt does not straight away lead to resolution, could have been provided.

Picture book that deals with something not often addressed in books for younger children, family bullying. The rhyming text carries the story along and makes the point that no one should feel everything is all their fault very well. The illustrations have great charm , I particularly liked the way Mr Sheep is drawn. Useful links to anti bullying sites at the end of the book are a good inclusion, would be perfect in a nursery or primary school library or reading corner.

A great book about bullying and teaching children what a "scapegoat" is.

When you get bullied by your own parents, then the effect on the child is gargantuan. This topic is explored in this rhyme-scheme book for little ones through a goat named Scapegoat (looks like his parents hated him from birth to name him that).
