As hurricane Norman bears down on the Forgotten Coast, detectives, Skylar Reid and Harvey Baker are tackling their own storm in the form of a series of murders.

If that wasn’t enough, Harvey's drawn into an assault case that hits a little too close to home after his daughter gets caught up with the wrong crowd.

With the clock ticking on when the hurricane will make landfall, and no idea who is behind the killings, the duo may have bitten off more than they can chew.

It be three maybe four if had less soap opera

Dead Storm is the same soap opera as the previous books. I think it is twice in the previous three books; it begins with Skylar waking up after a night of drinking with a naked guy who she doesn't know. I'm not interested in my protagonist's sex life. I want a police procedural story, not a soap opera

I enjoy several of the mystery series I read; most are the ones marketed as ‘clean’ and are addictive, and I want to read the next one just as I finish the current one, not so with The Coastal Suspense Series. It is mostly Skylar Reid's soap opera life, a good dose of Harvey's soap opera life, it seems like everyone in stories sleeps around, have lousy marriages. Basically no one I can relate to. It’s more PG-13 sex stories than suspense or mystery.

I understand personalizing your main characters, and PG-13 sex sells, but it actually is more entertaining when the characters personal lives are more in line with my personal life. Maybe I just don’t know 😱I guess, as Emma arose Watts would see it, my humdrum life, and it won’t sell books. But I can relate and care more about the ‘non selling’ when they are and plots that make me want read the next one. Not just read the next one because I’m all caught up on the

I'll probably get caught up to the most current book, but only because I'm not in the mood to search for something else to read. But once I catch up, I won't be anxious for the next book. I will once I get less soap opera and more suspense and mystery.

Great book

If you like mystery and intrigue you will love this book, it’s a series of books but a really great series. I love the beach setting and the raw and gritty emotions of Skylar our heroine. She as tough as they come but her story is heartbreaking and you will want to cheer for her every chance you get. I can’t wait for the next book!

Stormy, Suspenseful Thriller

Emma Rose Watts is very good at using colorful and suspenseful backgrounds for her books. It's not just about the main characters and this is why I always enjoy her writing. Love the location for her Coastal Suspense Series. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

Breathtaking

I have enjoyed reading this series. I read book 4 quite a while ago so it took me a little while to remember some of the minor characters. The hurricane added an extra edge to the story, also. If you haven't read any of the Coastal Suspense books then I would recommend starting at the beginning. This is a series I could easily read again!

Hurricane Not Realistic!

The author has obviously never been in a hurricane situation. Story was decent, but setting and hurricane were very disappointing.
