Raj works as a minor railway clerk and is married to his cousin, Rani. They live with his mother who runs the family cloth shop. Their family life is mundane and uneventful, punctuated by their weekly visits from the Doctor, to play Carrom board games. One day, Raj invites Nitin, his old school friend and a bohemian artist, into their home. Like a moth to a flame, Rani finds herself inextricably drawn to Nitin's apparent passion for life, unleashing a chain of events with tragic consequences.
