I was the proprietor of Cold Mountain Press, a literary publishing house in Austin, Texas from 1972 to 1981.

I trained as an attorney but never liked the practice of law.

Left the law for an economic development career, which I enjoyed immensely for more than 30 years. What I liked was the opportunity it gave me to help local communities, business owners, and entrepreneurs while generating jobs for citizens.

My passion now is to help others by writing books that matter to select readers and publishing them under my Provision House imprint.

In August 2015, I published The Life-Changing MAGIC RIVER OF MONEY that Flows from Tidying Up… as an eBook available from Amazon.

The book’s subtitle is: Make and Save Money Across a Lifetime with Common Sense Decisions to Declutter, Simplify, & Organize Your Life.

It’s a guide for readers in need of a common sense, do-able, personal finance strategy. Surprisingly, the process begins (or can) with the simple act of decluttering and organizing household possessions… but it quickly moves beyond that to making a sequence of other logical and financially consequential decisions.

Said another way, MAGIC RIVER OF MONEY is about the financial implications of “tidying up” and the revolutionary possibilities it creates. Like Alice’s discoveries down the rabbit hole, this book has more beneath its surface than you would think.

In 2014, I published AUTHOR BUSINESS PLANS MADE EASY (initially under the working title, WRITE-LIVELIHOOD: HOW TO CRAFT A WRITER’S BUSINESS PLAN). By September 2015, I will have published a condensed or abridged version to make the ideas of the original more readily accessible. These 2 are the first in a planned, multi-volume Author Business Series of books. News of other titles in the series will first be announced at the RyanPettyAuthor.com web site, where an email newsletter is available for free subscription.

The needs of authors to not only write well, but engage in business, will only grow more acute in the coming decades. My plan is to be of service.
