His Touch

Rate this book
The past decade, I've seen the darkest side of humanity.

My team and I have immersed ourselves in that world for revenge, pure and simple. In tracking my adversary, a ray of light crosses my path. My enemy's daughter.

Sadie's father never bothered with her, her mother provided a place to live but little else. From the moment I saw her photo, I was ready to give her everything.

I tell myself that I'll never touch her without her permission. That I'll stick to the shadows.

But I'm not that strong.

The feel of her hand in mine erases all my good intentions. I'll have her at any cost. This isn't love at first sight.

This is out and out obsession.

Duncan used to be in the military. After he got out he took jobs with his old team. One of those jobs was to take down Preston, a known human trafficker and drug/arms dealer. During his mission he sacrificed himself to save children and he was tortured with fire. After multiple surgeries, Duncan is left disfigured. Duncan’s sole purpose is to end Preston and take down his operation. While researching Preston, Duncan comes across Preston’s daughter, Sadie, and falls for her after learning more about her and the life she is surviving.

After a while, Duncan propositions Sadie in a letter. She’s to abide by his rules, go to college, and meet with him upon his request, blindfolded and naked. In return he will pay for her college, apartment, living expenses, and self defense classes.

Sadie lives at home with her stripper slut mom. She’s always sneaking in and out of her drafty room, hiding from her mother’s lovers and defending herself at school when the girls think she’s a slut and the boys think she’s easy like her mom. Sadie knows that there’s someone that comes around by the way her room smells after his visit. One day she finds a letter from her “stalker” and realizes this may be the way out of the life she’s currently living, so she accepts. After her mom kicks her out, and her friend turns on her (after Sadie’s mother slept with her friends husband), Duncan moves Sadie into her new apartment.

Preston has made his way to the top by blackmailing people. He has a list of evidence, as well as like 300 million dollars, stored on a flash drive hidden amongst Sadie’s belongings. Sadie’s fingerprint is the key to unlocking it all. Preston is sure it’s safe because nobody knows Sadie is his daughter, including Sadie herself.

I enjoyed this story but I felt something was missing. We spend the majority of the book with our two main characters only texting each other. Poor Duncan is so concerned about his appearance that Sadie doesn’t get to see him, even hear his voice, until like 70% into the book. Even though I read mainly for the romance, I felt like the author did a good job at keeping me entertained and guessing at the ending. The reader is blind to what is going on, given breadcrumbs of Duncan’s appearance and Preston’s wants. Due to Duncan’s ultimate mission, he spends a lot of time away from our heroine, which kinda sucked. The ending was good, not as big of a boom as I was hoping, but I still enjoyed. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

Loved Sadie & Duncan!!!

First let me say: M Merin I need you to give me the rest of the teams' stories!!

This book had lots of dark and gritty edges but underneath all of that was a young woman stronger than she realizes and a man who is worthy of the love he thinks he doesn't.

This story had all sorts of dark alleys and twists and turns but there really was light at the end...there is love, there is kindness and a HEA but it's not a simple path and for me that made it even better.

I loved the guys on Duncan's team as well and I truly hope that M Merin will feel the muse of their stories at some point and continue what I have no doubt would be an amazing series

Finally!

I’ve been waiting for something from M. merin for a bit, this was worth waiting for! I think this is a great start to a new series. This was a little bit angsty and a bit of a slow burn. Sadie and Duncan had a hard fight for their HEA.

Beauty and the Beast with a stalker twist

I read this via ku and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is a stalker version of Beauty and the Beast. Yes we all know stalking is bad. It's not romantic in real life. This is a book. It is meant for entertainment and the author delivers her story well. I do want to read more stories to include the secondary characters. Miss Merin, that was a strong hint. 😁

Triggers: assault, murder, drug overdose, flashback to torture, talk of sex trafficking, stalking, age gap

**spoilers**
Beauty - 18yr old Sadie, abandoned by her dad, brother in jail. mom who is neglectful

Beast - older guy named Duncan. from a well to do family but joined the military then started a security company. Tortured by the enemy he wants revenge.

When Duncan discovers his enemy has a daughter, he plans to find out more about her and use her to catch her father. His plan changes, slightly, when he becomes obsessed with her. Stalking her every move.

Sadie becomes aware of her stalker but isn't surprised (her life is horrible and yet her stalker makes her feel cared for) When Duncan offers an escape for Sadie and a chance at a better life, she takes it.

Action, excitement, some sexy time. HEA

Mind. Blown.

M. Merin has created such a unique and outstanding story with His Touch. Sadie and Duncan each standing out on their own as incredible characters makes for something phenomenal with them paired together. This books is just overflowing with awesome. From mystery to scorching heat and everything in between I couldn’t put this one down!
One second I’d be trying to unravel the mystery that is Duncan, the next I’d be totally swooning over his some how romantic stalker way and then I’d find myself on the edge of my seat needing to know what was coming next.
M. Merin has truly blown me away with this one!

SO GOOD

I was extremely hesitant to start this book because I wasn’t sure how I felt about a book who’s main character was a stalker but my friend read it and said it was amazing so I decided to test it out. Holy smokes I’m so happy she had me read this! This book was so well written. It wasn’t at all weird like I thought it would be. It was such a beautiful story and I can’t wait to read more of this series! Please read this book because you will NOT regret it.

Pretty good stalker romance

This was one of those books that were a little too weird in the beginning, but won't be disappointed if you stick it out. I love stalker type romances, but Duncan's actions in the beginning were too off not having all the relevant information. Overall, the story and writing were good. Ill definitely read the next book in the story.

Trope: age gap/ stalker
Story:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥
Triggers: none

A Great Slow Burn Romance

I absolutely loved this new book by M. Merin. She created a unique storyline & characters that will capture your heart!

Duncan & Sadie’s story is filled with mystery, suspense, action, and how love can heal all the broken pieces inside a person. Merin takes you on a journey of discovering that true love IS blind to one’s imperfections and flaws.

I can’t wait to read more on Keith, Alexa, Angelo, & the Carter twins! ♥️

Mysteriously awesome!

I have read M. Merin's Northern Grizzlies series and fell in love with her writing style. I was unsure of this book when I started it but was soon hooked with the storyline and could not put it down. This book consumed me. It was extremely well written with many twists and turns. Duncan was a wounded person and Sadie was a lost soul. Their story was perfect. I am looking forward to more in this series. I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

New series

I think this is going to be a new series, Sadie is living in a trailer park trying to save to get out and go to college, she doesn’t remember her father and her mother is a stripper who steals any tips Sadie makes working at the diner, her fathers enemy has tracked Sadie down and wants her, he makes a deal with her but as they say the course of true love never did run smoothly.
I really enjoyed reading this I think the author keeps you captivated the whole way through and I’m curious to see who might fall next

Could not put this book down!!!

What a riveting story! I can't recommend this too strongly. A man, a really good man, using unorthodoxed means to protect a young woman leads to a wonderful love story. First read by this author, but not my last!

I am a huge fan of stalker romances, I love the idea of a hero so obsessed with the heroine that he will do whatever it takes to get close to her. When I saw M. Merin, one of my new to me authors that I adore put this gem out, I saw stalker and one clicked. I couldn't put this down. Sadie and Duncan are amazing characters that are so meant for each other, regardless of how he came into her life. Sadie is strong, resourceful, smart and its no wonder why Duncan adores her. Duncan has gone through so much pain and to let Sadie see all of him was a leap of faith. The guys that work with Duncan are all unique and I am over the moon that we will be seeing their stories soon. I am now completely in the crazed fan category and will be stalking her page to see when her next book drops. His Touch is so phenomenal, I can't give it less than 10 stars!

Love .Erin's books

I keep Marin on my list of authors to check often for new books, ever since reading the Northern Grizzly's series. Really liked reading Sadie and Duncan's story. She's so sweet and happy and doesn't take anything for granted. Duncan has one goal, keeping her safe, well and happy. Can't wait for Keith's story.

A solid story of an unknown enemies to lovers

I didn’t know what to expect with the synopsis of the book when it mentioned stalking, but now I understand. I read the book for what it is, fiction and did not dwell on the stalker behavior. There is a good man, Duncan, who is seeking to take out a villain. Along the way Duncan discovered the villain’s daughter and becomes obsessed with her, Sadie. He stalks Sadie for a while before he realizes that she is in danger from her own mother. Duncan, being the good guy and the obsessed guy, reaches out to Sadie with a proposal. . . . The story begins there with interesting twists . . . Read On!
