My Pastor had a sign on his desk that read, “I know that worry works, 99.5% of what I worry about doesn’t happen.” When you read the Gospels we find, on more than one occasion, Jesus told His disciples not to be concerned or not to worry. Why is it that this command of His is one of the hardest to obey? Well Will van der Hart and Rob Waller to our rescue. These are men who knew how to worry even being involved in ministry. In eight chapters these two men delve into just what worry is, why we worry, what happens when we worry, the worry fuel and then they swing around and attack worry with faith and then with hope and give us the ability to take action. When we don’t understand what our problem is we really cannot do anything to get rid of it. ”The End of Worry” lives up to its title. If we follow what the authors have written then we can begin to be rid of worry both now and any future time it shows its ugly head. This book should be read by everyone as none of us are immune. It is perfect to give as gifts to family and friends so that they, also, will get rid of worry in their lives and thank you for it. I recommend this book highly!

This is the best and most concise book I've yet read on the subject of worry - practical, well-written and heartwarming anecdotal colour that helps bring about real change. Look forward to the next book from this partnership.
"Jesus didn't say, 'There's nothing to worry about,' but 'Don't worry, in spite of everything there is to worry about.' Will van der Hart and Rob Waller tackle this key issue in many people's lives." -- Nicky Gumbel, Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton
"One of the hardest verses in the Bible is ‘Do not worry,’ and I was therefore intrigued by The End of Worry. Well, I couldn't put it down! It is honest, humorous, and holistic. I was re-educated and I am already seeing the benefits." -- Canon J. John, author and evangelist
"A very thoughtful, balanced and practical approach to the reality of anxiety. The authors have authority to write on worry, not only because they know the subject very well, but especially because they have a passion to help others with the same spirit as the Great Physician: reaching the whole person and not only their emotions. The End of Worry goes far beyond the practical help of a mere self-help book; it is a therapeutic tool that is solidly founded on the Scriptures." -- Dr. Pablo Martinez, author and psychiatrist
"This for me is a brilliant example of exactly what a good self-help book should look like and so seldom does. If you have a tendency to worry then this book really is highly recommended reading, and if you are in a position of pastoral oversight then this is also well worth looking at for the insights it can offer." -- Good Book Stall Review
As a worrier, I try to read a book like this from time to time to keep my mind straight and not let the worries become overwhelming. "The End of Worry" was a good step towards that goal.
Like many other self-help books, this one gives some great advice on how to put worry into context. I thought about the entire concept differently than I ever had before. I especially was interested in the notion of "examining worry", or letting it wash over me and examining it from all angles instead of constantly pushing it away (and usually failing).
There is also a Christian element to this book, which can be taken or left. If you aren't as inclined to go down that path, it certainly doesn't take away from the bulk of the great advice throughout the rest of the book. If you are indeed looking for some religious guidance too, it is a nice touch.
Overall, I found "The End of Worry" quite instructive for its ability to get me thinking about worry in different ways. Other books have taken the "try not to worry so much" or "worry about only what you can control" approach, but this one really digs into the cognitive processes behind anxiety. As a deep-thinker myself, I needed that.
Worry is a terrible habit that I know I need to work on. While reading this book, I found some very helpful insight as to what triggers my worry, and how I can stop it or at least slow it down. The author uses real live examples that you can relate to then offers a solution which help you as the reader. One weakness that I found in the book however, was it would repeat its self every once in a while which I found to be obnoxious but still insightful. I would recommend this book to someone who is going through a rough time, or who has anxiety because I feel that it was helpful. I don't think I would read another book my this author, but if I was really struggling I might.
I can't decide if this book deserved three or four stars. It was insightful in some ways but a little too vague in other places. I really appreciated their technique for dealing with 'floating worries' (worries that don't have a concrete problem attached to them, 'what-if' worries are an example). Present contemplation is that technique, and though it sounded good, I wanted more details!
Not only is The End of Worry an easy-to-read book, but it is also filled with practical steps to overcoming worry. This book is full of scripture references to help you further understand what the Bible has to say about this topic.
