I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a sweet and simple biblical tale told by an elderly mouse to his grandchildren about Noahs Ark. A cute and different way of telling one of the bible stories for children and the book is beautifully illustrated too.

3,5/5. Part of a retelling collection of biblical story in a more visually attractive and «funnier» way. Those are good stories, even if you're not religious (christianism speaking here), those stories have some «action», this particular one more then some, and bring decent values to the table. Nothing outstanding but it did what it wanted to do quite well!

I thought that this book was really good!

Albert and the Big Boat is a very nice retelling of Noah’s Ark from the view point of Albert, a mouse! We really enjoyed the story and I thought that the illustrations were great too – a fab little read but there were definitely more than two mice on the Ark from the images - cute!

Albert is a mouse, an old and wise one, and he loves to tell stories to his children and grandchildren and there are also already great-grandchildren. And as it goes with rodents, there are quite a few of them.

As all young and enthusiatic story listeners know, some tales turn into favourites and we are keen to hear them time and again.
The wee mice love to hear the Big Boat Story, which is a clever and cheerful retelling of Noah's Ark, let's say, you get the mouse perspective here.

We hear how God decided to have a fresh start with humans on Earth, who were all so cruel and selfish. (At this point I really wonder if God still believes, it was all worth it. I mean, have we humans changed at all?)

But let's listen to Albert Mouse.
He continues to tell how his family survived.

At the time God told his friend Noah to build a huge boat and when it was finished all the animals find a space on board (including Albert's ancestors) and together with Noah and his family they brave the stormy sea for 40 days and hence get the chance for a clean start.
Finally God tells them all: "As long as you can see a rainbow when it rains, you know that there will never be a storm like this one ever again."

Which sadly isn't true, as far as an overpopulated planet and the resulting climate change and global warming go, but a lovely way to have children looking out for a rainbow after a thunderstorm and also to think of God and His creation at the same time.

The illustrations are simply enchanting. The bright and cheerful colours, the detailed pictures, Albert risiding on his favourite pile of shredded tissues, are absolutely lovely and a must see.

Albert and the Big Boat is not only a cheerful and also a modern retelling of Noah's Ark.

I mean, let's be honest here, who knows if there were just two animals of each species on board, maybe there really was a whole family of mice.

Albert is an old mouse with plenty of stories to share with his children, grand-children, and family. This sweet family of mice with their inquisitive questions and enthusiasm will be contagious with your own children and grand children as you reacquaint your family with bible stories.

God's goodness shines thru and the mice are reminded once again the promises of God. Highly recommended.

A Special Thank you to Lion Hudson Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
