Rate this book
Kindness...for some, it comes so easy, but for others, it can be a struggle. The answer often lies in a person’s story. Meet Gus, a one-time orphan who goes through life thinking that hurtful words and actions are the only way to behave and communicate with others. Interestingly, Gus lives in a town that holds a mysterious secret which finally gets unlocked by something that was hidden away. By unlocking this secret, you too can join the ripple effect of kindness that Gus, along with his school and town, is experiencing with the rest of the world! This book, along with each of you, will change our world as we know it. It only takes One Drop of Kindness to fill a heart with love.

One Drop of Kindness is a wonderful story for students both in elementary and middle school. I also feel it could be easily used as a mentor text in high school. The message is powerful and can lead to a variety of extension activities such as a Random Act of Kindness Club. Kudos to this author for spreading kindness through words!

Awesomeness! I read this to my seven yr old grandson and he said the book was awesome and it was very kind, also thank you for the stickers. He ran immediately to put one on his happy journal.

I loved the illustrations that were so colorful and popped off the page! We must teach kindness as it doesn’t really Come naturally. Thanks!

I cannot give enough praise for the goodness that is in this book. So much truth in this statement that is reiterated throughout the story:

"One drop of kindness is all it takes to fill a heart with love."

Our world needs more kindness and hearts that are filled with love. What better time to start than now! This book is a must-read for children and adults alike. Have a box of tissues ready for the end, the message will touch your heart!

I would give this book 2 stars, but it's 3 for the extra stuff at the back.

This book seems like it's going to be a wonderful story of self-improvement and community improvement great to share with families or classrooms. However, there are 12 (or more?) pages right at the beginning that I thought were a bit too scary for preschoolers and even some kindergarteners and lower elementary kids. The pages tell the story of a truly desolate school where all the people are mean, including the teachers, and the main character is behaving badly, too, although his mother has encouraged him to do otherwise. The illustrations on these pages are also very dark, with no colors but black, gray, and white. It's not until a new character appears that things change, and when the character disappears near the end of the book, it's unclear if this is a Fight-Club kind of thing or if she's really real. Overall, it's a nice concept but too dark in the telling for what I would guess is its intended audience. It's saving grace is that the last few pages include tips and suggestions for doing random acts of kindness in your family or your school, and my copy even came with a tear-out page where people can tear off things they pledge to do to make the world better around them. I have no doubt that the author Kubiak is an excellent teacher, but I don't know that I'll be sharing this with any of the young people in my life.

Excellent lesson about the choice of kindness. I honestly would read it for any age student as a great reminder. I would primarily recommend it for elementary aged children.
