Tessa Taylor is an Erotic Romance writer who currently can't write. She's spent the last several years living vicariously through her characters. Her own dating life is just as dry and desolate as the Phoenix desert surrounding her. What she needs more than anything, is a life and maybe some romance of her own. As well as a change of scenery. She's about to turn 40 and she's tired of being overlooked, ignored and taken for granted as a fluffy black woman in the US. Taking a cue from one of her own characters, she packs up and moves abroad for six months. Where does she pick? The Caribbean? The Motherland? Bali? Nope. Scotland. She's ready to find her own Red Highlander if it's the last thing she does. Little does she know that her popularity overseas will be more than she ever bargained for. And is about to take her on a whirlwind ride of men, sex, and some of the most awkward situations that can only be experienced while dating. Tinderella is a fictional story based on true events. One author's journey abroad to rediscover herself, dating, sex, and self-love. Her journey is inspirational, erotic, funny as hell, and heartbreaking. What's real and what's fiction is for her to know and for you to try to guess. Come along on this crazy, funny, and sexy ride with a woman just like you. THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE!!! This is a fictional erotic memoir. Adult Strong language and Sexual situations....18+ Only!

I was born and raised in Joliet, IL. I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating my own world. But throughout the years I have lacked the discipline to actually sit down and write. Even with a minor in Creative Writing (which should have been my major).
I have been a avid romance novel reader since Jr. High and have read hundreds. I have lived in Chicago, Japan, California and now reside in Arizona. And I wanted nothing more than to combine my love of romance, writing and traveling and put them in a book.
So one day out of the blue while in the middle of reading another book, the story that I had started months ago kept bombarding my every thought. Until I couldn't even continue to read the book I was in the middle of. I put down my Nook and picked up my laptop and about fifteen days later, I had finished my first draft of my manuscript. It was the most exhilarating moment of my life. To know that I finally did it. That I finally finished something that I had started. And now I'm and AUTHOR and PUBLISHER! I never would have thought that was possible three months ago. I just hope that everyone that picks up any of the books I write from here on out, enjoy them as much as I did writing them.

FYI: this is an HFN - Happily For Now. Though satisfying, there is no heroine and hero riding off into the sunset. With that said, this is still an amazing read.

This was both a love letter and a permission slip from a full-figured, 40 year old, adventurous Black woman to other women (ESPECIALLY other Black women). It is about a journey of discovery set in Scotland and it's funny, sad, exciting and head-scratching at various points. The heroine Tessa (loosely based on the author) is funny, self-aware, and comfortable in her own skin. She spends several months in Scotland and Germany, soaking up local color and dating as many men as she can. And boy howdy, does girlfriend get her freak on when she finally does. It's refreshing to read a romance/themed novel in which the heroine is unapologetically sexual. Seriously, as feminist as the genre likes to tout itself being, it can sometimes be pretty hidebound when it comes to sexually adventurous heroines, especially those who like sex just because they do.

Reading this I found myself remembering some of the dates/relationships from the past. I especially laughed (while cringing) about "Toothless". Luckily no toothless in my past, but definitely a questionable meth-head that I met at a metal show and left there. I especially love the fact that Tessa is totally an alternative Black woman - short dyed hair, piercings, combat boots - it's nice to have that intra-diversity out there for everyone to see.

My only boo-hiss moment: 50 Shades of Grey should NEVER, EVER, EVER, in a million years EVER be thought of as either a "romance" or a "gateway" into BDSM. It is neither. It IS, however, a badly written series ripped off from another badly written series that tries to make stalking, physical and emotional abuse "sexy". It still boggles my mind why that dreck is so popular, especially when there are far better BDSM-themed romance books out there.

This is one of my favourite authors and so I followed the Vlog and tried to keep up with her story abroad. I am happy she wrote the book based on real life experiences. I loved the book because it was REAL, raw, honest, heartbreaking and laughing out loud funny. It reflected my own dating experience that often when you are a plus sized woman the men that you are passionate about don't return that passion. The men who are into you, don't satisfy you. I thought the story was true to life and a very honest reflection regarding dating in the "date app era". Definitely worth a read if you can deal with real life dating relationships with all its disappointments.

🤔 Hmmm...

I'm not quite sure how I felt about this book. Part of me felt like it was a purging and definitely a journey on self worth and discovery. Tessa definitely left the states as one type of woman and came back more secure in her own skin. However, more often than not, the story felt like it dragged on longer than was necessary. I won't say I didn't like but I didn't love it either (not like I love some of Ms. Turner's other works).

Whew Chile!!!

As a follower of the vlog I am so happy she wrote a book based on her experiences. It so hard to date. My phone had been dry for years. Viewing that vlog gave me hope. Prior to my current relationship I dated people who liked me but I wasn't always into them. I figured hey they took a shot on me I should at least try. I was often left unsatisfied and lonely. The one I wanted the most chewed me up and spit me out. It took years for me to put myself out there again. I could relate to this book on so many levels. I laughed and cringed so many times and enjoyed it all!!! Sir if we ever meet I'm giving you a hard kick punk!!

Not your typical Twyla

What drew me to this story was that I follow Ms Turner on social media and I saw the cool photos she took in Ireland. To have a story of those travels was interesting and informative but also a dream of mine. I always wanted to live abroad. The story details were reminiscent of Ms Turner's writing style but the story was not. Somethings I just couldn't get into and although I enjoyed details about the scenery, Tessa's actions were not enjoyable. I think she was too real for me.

So insightful

I loved this book. It had the most realistic takes on dating, love and sex that i ever read. All the messy, smelly, wet, passionate, awkward, and amazing bit of it.

Yes yes and yes

I loved this book! It’s not typical Twyla book but it’s awesome!! every woman needs to read this it’s funny and heartbreaking and moving and real. It’s what we go through as women, it’s what we try to deny as women(our sexuality) so we’re not called sluts or whores. This was everything and unapologetic. Yeah read it. You’ll see a bit of yourself for sure. Hell it makes you want to travel but not just travel but live in another country and experience it by immersing yourself fully!!!

A Journey

Well written, I really enjoyed and appreciated your adventure and journey. You really met some interesting characters along the way. Thank goodness for food friends along the way. I am surprise Sir didn't t reach out again. He was arrogant enough. I want to read more about your travels friends with benefits.

Finding Love in Different Places

Tessa was my kind of Girl. Funny, Sensual, and Take Charge.

Her quest to help her sexual Frustration was a Tremendously, Exciting adventure.

The different types of guys she encountered, From the Smelly Guy, to No teeth, the Compassionate one, and then there is Sir.

Truly Remarkable as only Twyla Turner does it .

Good Read!

Not the normal read coming from Twyla Turner, but I still enjoyed it! I think she took a HUGE chance going to another country to live a whole 6 months to get inspiration! BUT, I think it worked! Although, she endeared a lot of emotional pain just to get thru that time! I believe Ms. Turner did well in her writing of this book!

Twyla never disappoints! As a consummate scaredy-cat, I cringed at the thought of one of my favorite authors going off to another county--alone! But she seemed so enthusiastic about it that I wanted to take the ride right along with her. In the beginning, I was hyped about her changing up her game plan in Scotland (you know...the whole "when in Rome" thing). To be honest, I was back and forth on right-swipe thing but I get it (no judgement). She met quite a few characters and after the third or fourth dude, I got so depressed I had to put the book down. She deserved so much more than what she got. And the one guy she fell for turned out to be a total ass. I am happy she made a lot of friends and developed more love for herself. Makes a sista rethink traveling abroad...

Magnificent!

There are so many things I enjoyed about this book! 💗
It was well written. The characters were brought to life. Many of Tessa's quirks and personality traits were if she was writing about me. The love, the laughter, the heartbreak, and friendships made makes this book a masterpiece. Thank you Twyla!!!

European Adventure!!!

I partially followed the vlog while she was away and found it entertaining. At first I found the book boring until the author reached her description with Sir and her adventures from there. I would not have the courage but I admire hers.

Okay I guess?

I think that I was expecting a more upbeat ending. I'm a firm believer in the adage that when someone shows you who they are; believe it. I thought that Tessa spent so much time hoping for a happy ending; that she kept reaching for something that wasn't simply wasn't there and only ended up hurting herself. Not that people shouldn't put yourself out there and reach for the happily ever after; but I felt she had a few too many "conversations" with Gavin and should have walked away sooner. At least she finally learned the toughest lesson of all; that its ok to love and have pride in yourself and put yourself first.

HFN

3.5 Stars for this BWWM romance novel. Hmmm. Twyla is def my girl especially because of the Muse. Her characters are written to be real as well as the situations she writes about in novels. But I am a sucker for HEA. I loved Tess, Sir and Jaime but can’t a sista get a break? While reality is great I personally read to escape into an alternative universe of fantastic outcomes.

Good but different

Not your everyday romance. Like the description say this is a journey of self love. Love definitely start with loving yourself first. I'm just glad twyla back in game. The beginning was a little dry and slow for me. It did get better and has inspired me to start to travel

Lovely

Absolutely love this story and the journey. I enjoyed reading the different experiences about places the main character visited and the friendships she made. Different but nice even though there was no HEA but the main character knows love begins by us loving ourselves first and enough to walk away if it is undeserving

What a brave adventure!

As a longtime fan of this writer, I'm even more enthralled. This isn't a typical book. The unflinching take on taking a chance to venture abroad, alone & try dating is breathtaking. To be fully aware that you don't fit the "standard model", yet still brave the online dating world? Ballsy as hell. Truly enjoyed every bit, even in cases where the choices made seemed counterintuitive.

This one was a ride for me and my review will probably reflect that. As a tale of taking chances at the midpoint of life, it was fun and interesting but a bit long. Could have definitely used some culling down and more focused anecdotes but it gave a cursory (if INCREDIBLY NAIVE and pretty stereotypical) view of Scotland and it's people. I'm a Black American expat (my Mister is English) and have lived in London for a decade (and have been to Edinburgh many many times) and Turner has some pretty big rose coloured glasses on (Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities though but a lot of whats said is... not the most accurate). Thats fine though because Tessa's journey showed that its still a city worth visiting and I hope more Black Americans will go (but know it has its problems). The date details were all over the map in being funny, poignant, cringe worthy, sexy, frustrating and sweet. Tessa though... *sigh*.

Oh my word, I don't know that I've ever been more frustrated by or embarrassed for a character 😂. Tessa was a mess and so because maybe she didn't know it or (more likely) falsely believes the strong, take no crap woman stuff she thought of herself. While it was mostly eye roll inducing, it was also real and made the story readable. But it was also so frustrating and lacking self awareness and HONEST self reflection. Actually oh what a book this would be if *that* was the premise instead of the dating. What I think Tessa showed was the obsession some women have with a real life HEA and how they fool themselves in order to try and get it.

Unfortunately, Tessa is coming from a place of so much deprivation and insecurity about herself and romance that she was bound to fumble the love and sex bags. Add in that she thought Sir was out of her league? DISASTER 😬. Gavin consistently tried (IN ALL THE WAYS) to keep Tessa on the hookup ONLY track, yet at every point she projected, overreacted and overthought her way into a false one-sided love and out of the short term walls busting fling! She spent six hours with him and she's in love?! With a man who consistently tells you AND shows you that he wants only carnality. It was so desperate and sad. Every time she text him I screamed NOOOOO! STOOOOP! Pro tip: Brits are pretty straightforward and honest. Scots especially. They say what they mean. It would be FOOLISH to try and interpret anything more and Tessa learned that the hard way. She put herself (and Me😆) through it. It was fascinating to see that quest for love so starkly shown so for that, I liked this story but oh my goodness was it a frustrating ride.

Can we start a naughty nomad club, lol?

Ma'am! I thought I was gonna have to sue you for telling my story without consent because some of these situations... So much similar, lol. Except I never let my weight make me feel like I couldn't have who I wanted. If you ever plan to do a serial, let me know. I've got a chapter or two for you. Lol and smh at the same damn time.

What Mr. Perry say, "Never let a man tell you he don't want you twice". Ladies, if he says it, believe him regardless of the connection you feel you have. You'll break your own heart trying to prove him wrong. I know someone like this who claimed connection even as he walked down the aisle to marry someone else.

Once I get this last kid into college and can make decisions for myself again, I plan to travel the world and live my best life. Perhaps even do few things that I plan to take to my grave. I should have done it in my 20s like Gianna but, life. Its fun to read that someone else did the same. That's why I choose this book and I was not disappointed.

Bitter, Sweet, and Abroad.

After reading this book, I now know why I held off from reading it for so long...I felt like it was not going to end in a HEA. A lot of what Twyla wrote hit home for me, as well as some lessons I learned were reinforced. Overall, because the reader does not know which parts of the books are true and which parts are fiction, it all comes off as a little sad and depressing. Secondly, I have met some “Sir” like personalities in my past and if it’s one thing I would have to agree with Sir about is: he was true to himself. With that being said, Twyla’s story was definitely heartfelt and heartbreaking too. Lastly, when I begin my abroad experience, I will definitely use this book as a point of reference!

Trash

I've read books by the author that I thoroughly enjoyed but this was TRASH. It has 326 pages I read 133. This isn't a book yall. It's an inner diary monologs of retellings. I thought the first couple chapters were just gonna be like that but no, in the 133 pages, the story went nowhere just complaints, bogus hook-ups amdb meeting people. It had potention but when I tell u I feel slighted for my waste of Effing time‼️ and Hey maybe I didn't accurately read the description I don't know. But for like the first time I DO NOT RECOMMEND unless u like reading POV diary journals, cause that's what it felt like, like she was reading her diary out loud minus the "dear diary" into🙄 I am so blown rn😒

I went in blind

I love Twyla so I didn’t even bother to read the blurb. I was to excited to be getting a new (to me) book. I don’t know what this is listed as but here is your notice that it is not a romance and it barely qualifies as a happy for now ending. With that said, it was entertaining. It was like reading a dating show instead of watching it. I am hoping for a little more romance and heat in book 2. And I love the title. It also made me want to get my passport stamped, pandemic be damned. But unlike Tessa I have kids so…maybe later.

Absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I had no idea it was based off of real events. Scotland has always been on my listed of places to see and she's made me want it more. I just knew Sir was going to be the one! I'm also glad she finally came to her sense and left his ass alone, nobody needs to deal with that shit. I would love to know if there's going to be a follow-up to this book.

it’s okay

Well, I understand that this story is loosely based on real life experience. It was also slightly depressing to read, because I feel like I was under the impression that this was somehow going to be romantic and it wasn’t. It was a book about someone finding themselves or figuring out how to love themselves. Other than that the book was well written I just wasn’t impressed by the story.

Part erotic/hook-up fantasy, our American heroine Tessa is, as the subtitle suggests, "Round, broad, and abroad," this time in Scotland. She decides to date while she is in the country, and all manner of erotic adventures are explained, in explicit detail. There's a wee bit of BDSM. So, if that's not your jam, this novel is not for you.

If it IS your jam, prepare to be enchanted by lots of handsome Scottish lads.
