Excellent book. This is the most important book to have if you are going to look into the last stand. The second most important book is the customer myth. But this one is the most important.

Walter Camp was easily the most prolific researcher for Custer’s last stand. His works included dozens of boxes of original documents, original investigations, original interviews that he did speaking firsthand with many of the Indians that participated in the battle many of the actual troopers. He went out to all of the significant sites, not just for our customers last stand, but all of the Indian wars.

He arranged visits to those sites with actual participants His notes are held at two different universities for study, but this book boils down the most important interviews and the most important notes into one location.

One of the things that you find with customers last stand is people have very strong opinions, and that is almost absent in this book. He works very hard to just give you the information and not to try and color it. There is a ton of information here.

Some of the other great books include Custer Scouts A picture book called where they died. And the number of others that I will put in a folder, referencing George Custer.

If you’re an enthusiast at all, this is a must have.

Once again, the dates for when I read it don’t make sense because I’ve been studying this since 1988 and I keep going back to it over and over..
