Brilliant! Enthralling! It's been a long time since I used those words to describe a fiction book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. A haunting story. It's been 24 hours since I've finished it and the story is still with me. Found myself crying a few times as I read. Excellent writer. I will read more by this author.

When I saw this author’s review for another book, I was curious about his own works. “Bridges and Angels: The story of Ruth” is a novel by David LaBelle.
He’s certainly a storyteller, and I believe he loves the Lord.
Although this is a novel, I’m curious about some of the details included in the story: frog farm, Ventura county, photographer. These are also parts of David’s real life!
I confirm this book as a solid 4 stars.
I literally read the book in one sitting as I was sucked into the evils of the flood, the harm to the family, and what happened next.
After a few chapters, I couldn’t resist and read the end. Then I returned to the beginning as the details of the story are well composed.
Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.
By the way, my copy is autographed, although I bought this book used.

Haunting and even tormenting at times, this story, which has at it core a real nightmare from the author's past, also carries with it a redemptive beauty. The author's gift of photography shows up in compelling similes, giving the reader the experiences right along with the characters.

Unforgettable images and drama. The nursing home scenes are so tastefully wrought.
