Ridley is hellbent on finding the amulet needed to take Bram down and keeping her promise to protect Hazel, but not everything goes as planned. When someone knocks from the other side, she must decide if tapping in is worth the risk with so much already at stake.
Bram is coming, and Ridley quickly learns there's nowhere to hide.
Locating the amulet is Ridley's only hope in defeating him, but there's only one way to do so--through the use of dangerous magic. Can she wield it without being consumed?
Magic. Witches. And Danger. Book Two in the new spin-off series to the popular Mirror Lake Wolves by Jennifer Snyder.
Jennifer Snyder lives in North Carolina where she spends most of her time writing New Adult and Young Adult Fiction, reading, and struggling to stay on top of housework. She is a tea lover with an obsession for Post-it notes and smooth writing pens. Jennifer lives with her husband and two children, who endure listening to songs that spur inspiration on repeat and tolerate her love for all paranormal, teenage-targeted TV shows.
Blood Magic by Jennifer Snyder a five-star read that is pure magic. This is the second novel in the Mirror Lake Witches series, and I would wholly recommend reading the series in order as they do flow from each other and do leave you with your heart in your mouth waiting for what happens next. Ridley just goes from strength to strength, but she is making the pit of my stomach worry with where she is possibly going. Bram is such a worry, he is the thing that goes bump in the night, the thing that makes your skin goose bump, the thing that sets you on edge. He is so well done that you will be looking in the dark for him. I must say that what surprised me was the secondary characters, I hadn’t always like some of the Montevallo’s, but I feel like we got to see the true side to them. This is definitely a series that you need to read, and if you haven’t checked out the Mirror Lake Wolves series then I would definitely tell you to read that one as well.
Picks up right where Gray Magic left off. Immediately. Ridley wakes up to find that the hiding spell has worn off while she slept. She resets it but worries Bram may have had enough time with it down to find them. Ridley needs a spell to cloak Hazel and the house and needs her aunt's help to find one to do it. And after that, she needs to figure out how to find the amulet so they can get Bram back into it. And she has to go to school as well but someone on the other side is trying to get through. It is a lot for one girl to handle. So hold onto your seat. You won't want to put it down and then you won't be able to wait for the next one.
Absolutely loving this new series. Ridley is a bada$$! Love seeing the other characters from the Mirror Lake Wolves series. I can not wait to read what happens next. Recommend to all
Blood Magic started exactly where the first book, Gray Magic, ended. Even though I enjoyed the journey of them finding ways to cloak themselves and working out how they can find the object to defeat their enemy, things really didn't start popping off until halfway or so into the book, making the beginning half a bit slow for me.
I'm surprised at how well Ridley is handling all this, wanting to take care of the bad guy pretty much all herself even though this is really her first go at all things witchy. I like her confidence but I'm also glad she still asks her family for help here and there. I also love watching Benji really be by her side even though he's not quite sure about this gray magic stuff.
I'm also enjoying seeing the Montevallo family really being a part of the story. I loved whenever they helped Mina and her wolf pack in Mirror Lake Wolves but in this series we really get to see more of their characters and how they interact with one other. We even get to see Julian have a bit of a love interest and it just warms my heart!
Overall another fun read in the series! I'm excited to see what happens in the final book!
First of all, Ridley and Benji were so cute together! Benji was so understanding and always there for Ridley. Another cute and maybe soon to be couple was Hazel and Julian. I hope there's a story dedicated to them in another series.
Secondly, I thought the first book was a bit boring, but this second book was excellent with plenty of action, also some moments where I found myself trying to shout to Ridley not to do it, or freaking just let her aunt know of her current situation!
Lastly, the ending was another cliffhanger, but I have high hope that everything would turn out to be okay for them because that has always been the case 😉.
Exciting story. This extension of Mirror Lake series is very good. Ridley is trying to use gray magic to hide Hazel from Bram until the can find the locket and trap him again. Unfortunately for Ridley, Bram is an old witch/vampire hybrid and knows more than her. She has an advantage with the vampires, shape shifters, and her Aunt Rowena for help. Things happen but Roman is able to help with his extra power he has as a vampire. A lot of action and suspense throughout the story.
Once again a winner. This story was fabulous. Ridley, Benji and the others are trying to defeat Bram and they need the amulet to do it. But where is it? And what major troubles are coming their way? Can't wait to read the next one.
