I was attracted to the fancy font style of the book "Asur Kanya & Her Route To Unrequited Love" by Maneesha Agrawal. I took a blind call based on a few of the trusted reviewers and got the copy. The book is a fast-paced story fictionally set around early civilization after the great flood. This short read of around 170 pages gave me company for a day or so and I finished this book in 2 sitting last Sunday.

Let me give you a brief of the story. As I just mentioned story is based on historical/mythological events of the great flood. Ira, the daughter of Asura king, is our protagonist. Her father had expected her only daughter to join marital knots with Banasur a promising general of the army. She took time a year to explore the world before marrying Banasur. Ira's adventure led her to the Manava settlement of Manali where she met Manu, the chieftain who played a pivotal role during the great flood. Though Manu was married when he met Ira, Ira was attracted to Manu. What will be the outcome of this wanderlust and how will it affect both Manavas and Asuras is portrayed in the later section

of the story. Read the book to know more.

Few good points about the book
1. The book is a short and fast-paced read
2. Language is smooth and easy to cope up with
3. Language is age-appropriate for almost all age groups
4. The story is written in and around few characters and encaptures their mindset only
5. Prequel read is beneficial but not mandatory. I read this part directly and faced no issues.

Few points of improvement
1. Though the author has done some research on earlier Indian civilizations, the story sounds too much like a fantasy tale than a historical one.
2. Though the cover is nicely designed, I have seen people selecting mythology reads based on character-drawn covers, which is missing here.

Overall a 3.5 out of 5.

The story starts when the Asur king Shambarasur decides to marry off his dear daughter Ira with his most trustworthy army chief Banasur. Shambarasur's only daughter, the Asur priencess of Causeruman, Ira is a very bold and ambitious lady. She despises Banasur completely and does not have any intention to marry him. Instead, she decides to go on a year-long trip around the globe to explore new places and to meet new people. Her maid and friend Nafia accompanies her to this journey..
After months, their caravan reaches Manali, the kingdom of Manavas, ruled by their king Manu and her queen Kamayani. The manav couple had committed their lives to their people.
Manali was a completely different experience for Ira. She falls in love with the Manava king and her charisma. Manu's charm pierced Ira's heart. But Manu only loves Kamayani and is fully committed to her...
Pick up the book to know what happens next. 😌
The genre of the story is a mixture of mythology and fantasy kind of thing, in my opinion. It was a completely pleasant experience for me. It's such a short and sweet story. I loved the descriptive serene narration. Both the language and the pace of the story is really easy to get along to which makes it a very enjoyable read and a perfect pick for beginners.

Taking the name of the book, we could imagine of India in past before mankind and civilisation existence. The cover of the book justifies the storyline.

Ira, the protagonist goes out of her Asur culture to discover the world wherein she's encountered with Manavas, their king Manu and queen Kamayani.

The book takes us to a tour of the Indian landscape from the Northern Himalayan region. It discovers Ira discoveries not just about new inhabitants but also her emotions and feelings.

There's a nice flow as the story proceeds. It makes the reader quite evident about our Indian history, culture and traditions.

There are four parts which makes the readers notice the intricate detailing of the story development. The language is lucid.

I would recommend it to everyone who would like to sense India differently.

Everything is fair in love and war... but it's not true

I am a kind of person who love mythology books. This book is about Manu who was the king of manushyas... Ira was in love with and to get him she did many malacts which she later felt guilty of and handed her child ella to Manu and kamayani.. This is the base story from which suryavansh and chandravansh were arrived... Nice book ....

This book is full of facts and stories from Indian scriptures and history of Human evolution. If you love to rummage through Indian History, then this book is apt for you!
Just so as to inform, I really found flaws and non-credibility of the facts and some characters. So read it as a hostorical fantasy or fiction, keeping in mind that it is not completely authentic.

Thriller!

Mythological thriller, to sweep you off your feets. Indian style of thrillers are somewhere considered boring, but this one is more insightful and enthralling to give you a good amount of adrenaline rush for two and a half hours. I liked the graph it built, for the reader to explore the Indian Mythology in a very different way.

Mythology has always fascinated me and this also was having a good blend of characters like asurs and manavs.

Ira, an Asur princess, daughter of Shambarashur, king of Causeruman, wants to travel to see more world beyond their kingdom specially Himalayas as she was fascinated by them. So she requested her father to let her travel before getting her married. But when her caravan reached Himalayas, they found a civilized and disciplined society of Manavs whose leader was Manu. When Manu met their guests, Ira instantly gave her heart to him. Why couldn't she?! Manu, the king of Manavas, was not only handsome but fearless and as well as humble as a human.

And then the problems started. When they proposed Manu for marriage with Ira, he refused as he was truly devoted to his wife, Kamayani. He had vowed to marry once only. He loved her dearly. So, Ira was heartbroken. But her friend and caretaker, Nadia came with a mischievous solution to abduct Manu and get him married to Ira.

What plan these Asurs have? How they will abduct such brave and strong Manu? Will their plan get succeed? Well, grab this interesting book to know.

The story started slowly but I was hooked once Manu appeared in the story. The language is easy and some mythological words' meanings are also given. The characters are well developed. I liked the narration of Ira's mentality in her immature love. Well, every girl feels the same. It's difficult to know the difference between love and infatuation at young age. So it's a great book to know some history about Manu.

This Mythological fiction was whimsical in my view! Indian history in Hindu view.
Asur Kanya can be considered both a standalone and a sequel (of From Zero to One). I haven't read the prequel and it didn't affect my reading experience with this.

Asur King's only daughter Ira sets out on a wanderlust after her father , the King, tries to pair her with his Army Commander Bana. After her long journey which was about take a return sets their last camp in Manali, the land of Manavas. Their King Manu was the most desirable being on earth and Ira falls for him. But her love wasn't reciprocated and the story tells the aftermath!

Her immature love was wrongly conceived by her mind than her heart and lead to irreversible spontaneous decisions , which later subjected to self realization and justification by self conviction and punishment & atlast adorned by understanding and sympathy by the victims.

The last chapter is the essence of the whole book and it's essence can't be perceived unless you read the whole book!!

It personified eternal soul's commitment, sanctified sentiment giving core strength and mind's unstable decisions as the characters [Manu, Kamayani and Ira in the order].
The author also shows her belief in universal brotherhood by telling how everyone are links in a chain.
The language used throughout is rich and simple concurrently. Didn't have any questions as all the reasons and answers were laid bare beforehand.

Recommend for all mythology lovers!! [Can be also perceived as historical fiction]

Asur Kanya and Her Route to unrequited love - Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Author: MVG (Maneesha Agrawal)

A quite interesting and one that keeps you thinking why the title of the book is this. As you go ahead in the story obviously you realise why it is. This story is based on some information, author got in her travels after which she did her research and based on that this book came into existence.

So to start with story/plot of the book, i really enjoyed it. There are some books rhat give the vibes of the times that we never got to live through. One of the times can be said is of when there was a culture of Asurs and Manavas.
And for me personally I love to read or watch such type of civilization.
The book Asur kanya is totally upto the mark and definitely a page turner. As we read about Asurs and Manavas, there is an instant image in our minds, picturing the Asurs as violent and unprompted and Manavas as symbol of halcyon, composure. In this Asurs are ruled by the King Shambrasur and later by Manu.
It's a story about the Asurs king's obly daughter Ira and how she us different from her own expected nature to be, how she wanted to be in a world of calmness and placid.
It has it's fair share of ups and downs throughout, though for me it was a good one.
Definitely something I would recommend to read for uplifting the mood with a different concept.

The book is written on mythological fiction.

This book is about Manu who was the king of manushyas...
Manu ruled the kingdom of Manali. The place is one of the pinnacles of order and development with people working day and night according to the laws of the land to make their kingdom a better place to live.
Ira was in love with and to get him she did many malacts which she later felt guilty of and handed her child ella to Manu and kamayani..
This is the base story from which suryavansh and chandravansh were arrived.

This is the second book of the author and she wrote it with a full of heart and perfectly framed it on Indian history.
keep me engaged till the last page.
Characters are well portrayed and interesting. narration is awesome and language is realistic and understanding.
Go ahead and read this amazing mythological thriller...

This book is set in ancient India and is totally a bliss for Amish Fans 😍I was totally getting Meluha vibes when I was reading this book. Talking about it's plot , the book is about two civilisations - asur and manavas. Asurs are described as carefree , aggressive, and impulsive while manavas are portrayed as civilised , calm and cultured. Asurs are ruled by - Shambrasur .His only daughter Ira appear to be different from all other asurs as she dislikes violence and longs to live in a civilised society. Nevertheless she sets on a quest with her best friend-Nadia , to find a better society . The writing is brilliant and story line keeps you hooked . The flow of the book is very smooth .My favourite character has to be Manu - the Manav king 😍I hated Nadia , I was expecting more of her , I was expecting she would always stand for right no matter what ,but I guess she was a pure asur girl , if not by blood than by traits. I enjoyed the book and would have enjoyed it more if I have read the first book by author as the book have many references in it from 1st book . You can read it before reading 1st one but if you want better understanding of characters than I think one should read 1st book as well . That's what I felt because first book is about king Manu .
Overall, it's recommended if you searching for something different to read. It's good for a change you know ❤️

If you like Amish's books, you are gonna love this. This is an Indian mythological fiction based on two civilizations living on the earth - Asura, and Manava. Asura is cruel and aggressive on the other hand Manavas are literate and civilized and kind.
Asura is ruled by Shambrasur who has a daughter name, Ira. Ira is not like other Asura. She doesn't like cruelty and is attracted to peaceful civilizations.
Ira falls in love with a man named Manu who is a savior of people. Manu saved people from massive floods. But Manu is already married and in love with his wife Kamayani. What will come in Ira's way?

I enjoyed it as it was very impactful.
You should read it if you love mythological fiction. It's great.

Asur Kanya and her route to unrequited love
Author: Maneesha Agarwal
Genre: Mythological fiction
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The book depicts the story of Manu (the man who rescued all from the great flood) and the Asir Princess who fell in love with him - Ira. Ira came to visit the Himalayan range before her marriage, and on a tour to Manali, fell in love with Manu. Now Manu was already married to Kamayani, who was his true love, and rejected Ira's feelings. This lead to a plan of action from the Asur's part and the story rolls forward from there.

Asur Kanya is the second book by Author Maneesha Agarwal. Her first book was from zero to one. Although I haven't read the first one, I never had any problem understanding this book since the Author has meticulously scribbled in footnote any relevant information I might need. The character build up was strong, and the story was relevant to those mythical times.

I quite enjoyed the story, and it was a fast paced read with small chapters - which I love. I think any fiction or Mythology lovers out there will enjoy this story, and hence I give it a 4 star.

ASUR KANYA AND HER ROUTE TO UNREQUITED LOVE is a mixture of mythology and fiction. It's about a princess who wants to explore the world outside her own kingdom. In this journey she comes across the King of Manushyas and is immediately smitten by him. Her love is not reciprocated and this book depicts mainly the aftermath. How far will the Asur Kanya go to conquer her unrequited love!

I enjoy books based on Mythology. It's a well written, well executed book. The author has gone to great lengths in her research and the characters are well etched.

A good book that Mythology book lovers are bound to enjoy!

There has been frequent referencing of the book " From zero to one". Though I haven't read the book , I did not feel the need to do so whilst reading Asur Kanya.

The book Asur Kanya is a mythological story where Asur, Manav and all a part, where the princess of Asur Kingdom Ira is on a wanderlust, who meets a Manav King and falls in love, will it be a happy ending or something else?

The story of Asur Kanya was quite predicted, and it turned out the same. The language and the story is good, it takes you to mythological journey. So Kudos to that. It takes us on journey of love, followed by one sided love and heartbreak. Hence I find the title endearing.

The author in the start has given a detailed description of the lives of Asur, and life of Ira, which dragged a lot as I believe a gyst was enough.

Overall a decent read.

Asur King, Shambarasurs's only daughter, Ira's marriage is set up with the Asur army chief, Banasur. But Ira wants to explore new places and see the world, before getting hitched with Banasur, whom Ira hates. Ira, her close friend and maid, Nadia along with other people, set out on a exploration journey where they meet the Manavas and their King, Manu. Ira falls in love with Manu who is already married to Kamayani. When does not reciprocate to Ira's love, Nadia makes a selfish plan to abduct the leader of Manavas. What happens next unfolds this amazing story.

This book has a page count of 162, which could be finished easily in a sitting or two. This is a beautifully written, gripping tale with a perfect blend of facts, mythology and fiction. The story will never bore you.
This is the author's second book and has lots of references to her first one but you don't need to read the first one to understand Asur Kanya.
The only underwhelming aspect for me was, I expected more from a strong character like Nadia but by the end, she fell flat for me.

The book is the second one by the author. The first book is 'From Zero To One.’
Although I haven't read the first book, I got a fair idea as Author has taken deliberate care to provide necessary details as and when needed or referred to the incidents or happenings which were mentioned before.

Coming to the plot, initially, it starts with the detailing of the 'Asurs' and their life which follows no laws, discipline or rules. They are carefree, aggressive, impulsive and indulge themselves in many violent activities. The protagonist Ira, meets Banasur as they were chosen to be partners by her dad and the king of the place called Causeruman. King Shambrasur has his tale and history which is also briefly described. Ira disliked violence and the conduct of Asurs and she always wanted to go out and wander and discover other countries and people.

For her earnest wish, she along with her friend and companion Nadia and along with many Asur warriors set out for discovering the world out there for another 12 months. They eventually reached Manali in the Himalayas. And they see a new civilization set up by the Manavas. Their way of living is grand and cultured, it mesmerized Ira- especially the leader of Manavas 'Manu'. But Manu is married and an entirely loyal lover and an astute leader. However, Ira falls more and more in love by the day.

Will she be able to devise a plan and win Manu's heart? Will she be able to win over her love? The story portrays the journey of unrequited love, the pain and the feelings that lurk within. It has many a heartwarming and beautiful depiction and narration of the feeling called love. With rich language, a captivating narration, it will touch your heart as you reach the end.

The book named, "Asur Kanya and her route to unrequited love" is written by Maneesha Agarwal. A very interesting storyline this book has. This book is a mix up of history, travelling memories and newly originating love between two souls.

The storyline clearly talks about how a person's heart always go against what the mind speaks. Both tend to work in different directions. Heart do not understand logics, mind do not understand emotions.

The storyline is captivating, it just keeps the reader hooked to it thoroughly. The storyline is well framed, and speaks strongly about heart, mind.

The main character that we have in this book is a girl named, Asurkanya Ira. She is engaged to a person she dislikes against her wishes, and gets to spend a year of time before she will have to settle down. That's when she decides to roam around the world, and reaches in Himalayas. There she faced strong emotions, and she is hanging between what her mind says, and what her heart says.

What is that ??

To know that, grab a copy of this book and give it a read.

I loved reading it, it's superb.

I haven't read many mythology books in the past. But I recently came across a book called Palace of Ilusions and the fact that i loved the book immensely compelled me to pick this one up!
‌The storyline follows the character of Ira who's the daughter of the king of Asura Sambarasur and is the perfect "anti protagonist". In the beginning she was a spoilt princess for whom rejection was almost elusive. But things took a hilt turn when she met Manu and the sequence of events that followed completely overturned her life. The character arc of Ira has been beautiful painted by the author!
‌The author draws a really curious comparison and elaborates the consequences of living in a kingdoms with completely opposite systems of government.
‌On one hand we come across the Asuras who've a complete disregard for any kind of rules and regulations whatsoever. The don't practice cultivation or any job that requires the optimum use of the brain. The only qualities they have in exaggerated proportions are physical power and bloodlust which results in widespread Hooliganism throughout the kingdom.
‌On the other hand we come across the kingdom of Manali. Led my Manu, the place is one of the pinnacles of order and development with people working day and night according to the laws of the land to make their kingdom a better place to live.
‌The book takes the right path towards explaining the true meaning of love and the hardships the characters face to understand the crux of the concept is beautifully narrated!
‌The writing style is smooth and lucid yet has got an oomph to it which makes one flow along with the book seamlessly! The plot was made keeping in mind the actual historical events and the connection of history with fiction made at the end is really insightful!
‌If you are looking to read something short and sweet, just go for it!

I loved it. I think my eyes literally devoured this book. I don’t typically read books from this genre but I’m glad I did this one because it was pretty amazing. This book intrigued me throughout and left me wishing for all the details , it left me wanting more...and more. It was fantastical in just the right amount , it never lost a touch of reality which made it more authentic in a way of saying , although it was fictional you’ll connect with the book on a different level , at least that’s what my personal experience was. The storyline is nicely paced, it’s just perfect (neither too fast nor too slow) and I genuinely loved the love story mostly because I’m a sucker for romance but even if you’re not into it you’ll still find it moving. When I say the story is engaging I absolutely mean it. The way the author expressed all the emotions, truly made you feel it , is one of the biggest merits of the book and also a sign of a good author , so kudos for that. I’m definitely gonna read more from this genre cause this got me hooked. Mythology , fiction , facts , love and friendship are the main threads which are nicely woven together to form a wonderful story. I definitely would recommend this to a fellow bibliophile.

" On an impulse, Ira turned her head to see the path her feet had followed. It had ended. A deep horrifyingly deep Gorge lay beneath her feet. She was standing on the edges fatally dangerous cliff.
When you walk a path without seeing you throw yourself up to many risks. Ira did the same and forged an unforgettable episode of love, desire and deceit that history had to remember In doing so, she brought on to herself a whirlwind of painful emotions and undying agony.
It has a very interesting plot and is able t make you glued to it.
There is nothing better than a short book to read.
It is a very nice and different book. A mild touch of thrill keeps you excited and indulged during reading.
Though it has a mild touch of mythology, I liked that the characters are used properly.

I will start with the cover it could have been better. Like something more elaborate.
Coming on to the title it is apt and interesting to say the least and catches the readers attention.

The book is a mix of mythology and fiction with some entrails of thriller which was an added bonus to it.
The language of the book and the narration are easy to keep track of which made the reading an enjoyable experience.
Loved how the plot developed and brought about the character changes.
A few typos here and there which with a thorough check could have been removed.
Otherwise a nice short read for in between those heavy books you've got going.
I would definitely recommend it if you like reading Mythology with an added twist of Fiction.

The attractive aesthetic cover and different title made me pick this book. It is a short story that blends mystery, romance, adventure, mythology together.

The protagonist of the story is Ira who is only daughter of king Shambarasu and princess of Asur kingdom. She is bold and ambitious women who is loved immensely. She decides to cancel her wedding and go on a journey. She falls in love with Aarya Manu a king who is already married. Unable to suppress her love for the king she decides to twist the plot with help of her friend. The story takes a drastic turn. ✨The author has beautifully penned the scenes. Every character is built well. The plot is engaging till the end. Smooth narration and easy language. Well written, short and refreshing read.

Starting with the characters, this book has very strong female characters. From Ira, the protagonist herself to Nadia, her best friend and confidant, both of them are very clear about their choices and not ready to compromise on them.
Ira and Nadia choose to go ahead with their plan even though they knew it was not the right thing to do. Both of them are independent, opinionated and strong personalities.
Most fascinating thing about the story is how the writer picks up the facts of human history and mixes it with her imagination. Relationships in the story are beautifully explored whether it is father-daughter bonding or Ira-Nadia friendship.
Writing is a bit too fancy. Flow is missing at some parts.
