Behind the Speaker's Chair

Rate this book
Now that the proceedings of Parliament are broadcast daily, the voice of 'Mr Speaker' calling the House of Commons to order is well known and will, as time goes by, become better known in the 'Mother of Parliaments'.

It is appropriate, at this time, to explain the significance of the traditional chanels of communication between political groups used in the British Parliamentary system; and this personal account by Lord Wade, former Liberal Chief Whip, serves this need.

This book provides the outside world with a glimpse Behind the Speaker's Chair, and an insight into the conversations and negotiations which take place in the background.
