Back in High School, following the heady days when I first got into the Blair Witch Project, I became fascinated in local legends and lore from my own backyard. Around this time, I came upon this classic. The dark and brooding nature of the tales caught my attention, excited my imagination, and scared the crap out of me. The one from Buttes D'Morte definitely had be staying up late the night I read it. I've goen back and reread it several times over the years, and it continues to hold up.

Another good regional read from Dennis Boyer. A little more in depth than "Driftless Spirts" was; maybe a little creepier. Makes you feel like looking over your shoulder and under your bed. Hair raising.
