Hot, dark and oh so sexy. This series explores not just the nature of reality but the nature of attraction, lust and need and shatters all the rules. "Make no mistake this is a series you NEED to read. Good verses evil, angels, ancient warriors, a plot to take control of the world, a love triangle where nobody truly wins and sex that is lava hot. You have it all at the tips of Ciana's fingers. Hanging on for the next book... barely. Continue this journey of the Shattered Chronicles and be prepared to be left speechless." – Amazon Review "It's an interesting and infinitely sad moment when you realize that regardless of the love you have for the people in your life, you can't be what everyone wants you to be, and you can't fulfill everyone's desires. When the reality of who you and what's required of you slams into you like a runaway train, you quickly comprehend that your first duty is fulfilling your own destiny, no matter how hard it is, or how much you must sacrifice. “Joseph Wirthlin once said that each of us will have our own Fridays – those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. I'm doing my best to ward off Friday without losing my soul and some days that's a lot harder than you might imagine." Morgan Windwalker This is an ongoing tale and the books must be read in order. Don't let that stop you from joining this series for a trip you won't soon forget in The Shattered Chronicles.
Ciana Stone has been reading since the age of three, and wrote her first story at age five. Since then she enjoyed writing as a solitary form of entertainment, before coming out of the closet to share her stories with others. She holds several post graduate degrees and has often been referred to as a professional student. Her latest fields of interest are quantum mechanics and Taoism. When she is not writing (or studying) she enjoys painting (canvas, not walls), sculpting, running, hiking and yoga. She lives with her longtime lover in several locations in the United States.
The impression I have is that this author realized that she did a great shit when she inserted a ridiculous, unforgivable and unnecessary CHEATING in the story and now she's trying to get around that with a lot of paranormal nonsense. And then more CHEATING and CHEATING trying to justify a mistake with others mistakes. It's disgusting and nothing added will change this fact, so have pity and just give up!Just learn the time to finalize a (BAD, BAD, BAD) story, please!!!! Oh !! And if there's a chance the "main couple" will still be together after so many betrayals you can try to run for the MOST RIDICULOUS JOKE OF ALL THE TIMES!!!!!
ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars
Defenseless is tied to the Cotton Creek saga (Shattered Chronicles book 5) by Ciana Stone and she keeps you on the edge of your seat again!
The roller coaster ride continues with Cord, Morgan, Victor and Joe...Good vs Evil...mind control...angels...out of body experiences. How the kids, Trevor and Cable are handling all the happenings with their parents and understanding that some people are not who they think...
What will Morgan have to do to keep Cord and Victor from killing each other? So much is happening and while it’s not heart pounding like the former books it does get the heart pumping...pages turning and wanting to get the next book...NOW!!!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book ! This is book Book 5. Morgan's life continues to be super complicated. Will she learn to navigate her complicate life ? Which path will she follow ? Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
very good story.. characters are sexy and interesting.. the plot is intriguing and kept me on the edge curious. the writing was very good. i will admit some spots were a lot slower then others but the faster paced ones kept me interested long enough. very good story!
Just when you think you may know what is happening. It takes another turn into some weirdly exciting adventure. I love this series and can't wait to see the final conclusion to this whole series.
Morgan's figured out something that Victor hasn't yet from their joining. Now if only she can keep her off tilter for a bit to work her plan. But what is it and how will she succeed? Then she discoveres more in Victor's home then he planned on. What will she do with all the information she has gathered....
First, I want to thank Ciana Stone for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Ciana Stone is back with the 5th book in her Shattered Chronicles Series called Defenseless. If you have not read the past four what are you waiting for? This is a must-read series by an incredible author! She keeps bringing us great stories book after book. You never know where the story is going to go!
One thing is for sure with her books you will always get an amazing cover. She does all her own graphics for each book. It could be one cover on the book you download on Kindle or the one you see on a social media site like GoodReads. However, each one the models are to die for and the pictures are perfect. She is multi-talented.
Warning the book may be a little violent for some.
Incredible start to the book with it being so fast paced and very exciting! I love when authors do this to get our attention!! Right away you are pulled into everything going on with Victor medically. My heart just went out to him with everything going on with him. That scene was so incredibly intense in many different ways. In the end an outsider looking in I didn’t agree how they handled the situation.
Drama with Morgan and Chord is back again. Those two deserve their own soap opera! This time around we meet his daughter Cable. I thought that was a very unique name for a girl. I never heard of that name ever used. So kudos for going outside of the box on that one.
I have loved all the other Ciana Stone books, and thought when I read the first of Shattered Chronicles, that I do the same, but, the mix of characters and what they do here continue to bother me. Yes I keep reading, but is it for the story, or just because I hate to give up on any book? I'm not sure at this point. I don't understand Morgan's connections with Victor because I cannot get past how evil he truly is, very little in the way of redeeming qualities, but then I think about the relationship between Morgan and Cord, and realize that something was missing there too - it was too good, maybe, with not enough spice? Who knows? Suffice to say, I continue to read and am now finished reading Defenseless and moving onto the 6th book - Dauntless - still not really liking the characters 100% (but then who says you have to and maybe the author is so good that she makes it possible for you to do so and yet want to continue reading to find out what happens next - uh, like what I'm doing?), but wanting to know more. I do rather like the paranormal aspects of this story, and it ties in with some of her other stories, so I like that connection. All in all, it was written well enough that I continue to read so there's something that caught me.
Cord and Morgan’s story continues with deeper intrigue and more complex relationships, but for me this story doesn’t have the same punch as the previous books. However, it is still a very engaging story. My main issues are that I’m not sure I like where Cord’s storyline is headed and Morgan’s feelings for Victor are as difficult for me to reconcile as they are for Morgan. But this is the whole point of this series. It’s not meant to be a comfortable, easy to the HEA read. There are times it’s going to make you uncomfortable and unhappy, but even though you might not want to see what’s happening, you can’t look away. After all, their story’s not done yet.
It’s a riveting narrative that still has me enthralled and anxious for what’s coming next. I feel like I have too much of my heart invested to consider walking away now, nor do I want to. And, even though this episode wasn’t as gripping as the last, it’s still a fascinating story. This is an engrossing storyline which will tug at your heartstrings and overwhelm you at times, but it's well worth it!
The story continues as it pulls you deeper into the mystery of what is going on with Cord, Morgan, Victor, and Joe.
With each book, it seems as if the story gets more complex, convoluted, and sometimes confusing. I have to be honest. I am not feeling the relationship between Victor and Morgan. I am not thrilled with the path Cord is traveling down. I wonder if Cord and Morgan's kids will end up caught in this power struggle between light and dark, good and evil.
The story is intriguing, full of twists and turns, often fueled by intense sexual needs always suspense, and on the edge of danger, in not completely immersed in danger.
I can't imagine how this story will ultimately end. Or even when it will end. It does not feel like we are moving closer to a conclusion, more like spiraling deeper into the pit. A non-stop rollercoaster ride.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Defenseless is an emotional hurricane filled with drama, suspense, danger, love, passion, pain, hope and the possibility of something we may not fully understand.
The passion is all over the story, and the story is steeped in danger - it is all around and it's fast approaching. You can sense it but you know it does not portend well for humanity!
Yes, many things have been set into motion the reader may not yet understand but we anticipate they will be revealed as this series moves forward.
Bottom line: The plot is engaging and the characters solicit strong emotional responses. Most characters are likable and a few you will despise but I am sure it will not keep you from flipping pages, searching for a HEA if such a thing exists.
I received an advanced reader copy and am posting an unbiased, unsolicited, honest review. This one is a nail biter. Hurry up Ciana Stone ... this reader needs to exhale!
We now know that Victor is not as bright as he thinks, thanks in part to Morgan, and a shocking incident that leaves both he and Morgan shaken. Cord, being the heartbroken man that he is, can't seem to stop himself from wanting them. And getting caught with with them by Morgan. Victor's become even more viscous than he was, and more powerful. There's a new and interesting twist to Morgan and Victor after they join. Trevor finally learns about Joe, who Joe is and a bit about he himself is. A battle is coming soon and Victor just might be blindsided by those he trusts. Everybody is showing just how dumb and gullible they, and how strong or weak. I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
This series is taking me to another level and I am not sure I like it. The author keeps weaving such a complicated story line that you cannot help but keep reading. The characters are so multifaceted that some times you get lost in the character's life past and present you have a hard time putting the book down.
Having to admit in this part of the story I kind of dislike Morgan. Understanding what her character is going through but still not liking her attitude about Cord. He is not blameless because at this point he is not thinking with the right head and that is part of the bigger problem.
When a book can bring you to a range of emotion then you know the author has done a great job.
As a fan of Ciana Stone's work I will read and review these stories to share with other readers without obligation tot he author.
I am not sure where to start in leaving my review of "Defenseless". It isn't enough to say there are twists and turns, but is a bit like a pretzel that keeps twisting the knife into the reader. Victor is evil incarnated, and I understand that Morgan is doing what she thinks is best, but for her to be in love with Victor even after mistreatment and threats? That is just a HELL NO! My favorite person in the series is Cord. He is not perfect, but he does try to do the right thing, even with outside sources undermining him at every turn. At times I almost dislike Morgan and hope Cord can find his own HEA. I look forward to their story playing out and hope they will find a resolution that will make them and the readers happy. *I was gifted a copy of "Defenseless" with my review given voluntarily and without expectations. 4.25 Stars!
More and more questions and so many twists and turns that I am a bit confused but that's ok, just makes me think more and keeps me guessing! A psychological thriller at it's best. Now that Morgan left Cord for Victor, Cord tries to get on with his life so when Roger Stork comes for a visit the two men get away to Mexico. Morgan and her daughter Cable show up around the same time and all Hell breaks out. Cord and Morgan get into a huge fight and he tells her to leave him alone and go back to Victor. After that things start to happen, Cord is sent to Japan for business and Morgan starts spending time with her son Trevor and well, read the book! If I say to much more spoilers will take up the rest of this review.
I was gifted an ARC and voluntarily read and reviewed.
Book 5, Defenseless, picks up right where the last book left off. Morgan's life is still very complicated and she has to choose what side to be on.. good or bad. You will keep turning the pages and want the next book right away.
Buckle up, because the bumpy ride of mind control, out of body experiences, good vs evil, etc., will keep you wondering who can/can't be trusted. Morgan and Cord's children also have to learn how to accept what is going on with their parents and not knowing if someone is truly who they appear to be.
Will Morgan be able to stop Victor and Cord from killing each other? Does she really love Victor? What will happen next? I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
What a myriad of twist, turns and hunger to control. My emotions are all over the place with this series, who to trust, who really loves who, who’s really in control, who’s good, who’s evil. Darkness seems all consuming in this is a dangerous game of love, hate and dominance. Morgan is crazy, Victor is evil-crazy and I’m frustrated with them all, including Cord, lol. I feel like he caused Morgan’s downward spiral but I think she’s also the glue. This is intense, shocking and even a bit humorous (Joe), characters have depth and plot is progressing opening up paranormal windows that I could’ve never imagined, unique and exciting read. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
WOW! I don’t think these episodes could get any better and then the next one comes out. The epic power struggle between Victor, Morgan and Cord continues although Cord seems to have taken a detour of sorts. Morgan works to reclaim her relationship with her son while keeping Victor ‘contained’. Morgan’s powers have increased as have Victor’s. She is continuing to find out more about her place in the world and about her true nature. I love all the characters in these stories and most are a study of good and evil and the warring of the two that takes place in the world or even in ourselves. Can’t wait till the next episode. I find it impossible to put the Shattered Chronicles down!
Morgan and Victor are trying to find their way, Morgan is doing some sneaky business while Victor recovers, She still wants and needs Cord but she knows how he feels since she will do whatever it takes to keep him alive. Cord decides to take a job in Japan for the wrong reasons and gets hooked up with a young woman whom is not what she pretends to be. So much suspense and adventure for Morgan and her guys. Victor's arrogance costs him dearly and will keep him from seeing some important facts. Great characters and the story line is exceptional. I received an ARC from the author without obligation. I am providing an honest review.
This was one anticipated on pins and needles since I am ensnared into this series. It is unique in its own rights so that is refreshing for me. Morgan has it where I hate leaving her side wanting to see what happens next especially with all that is going on. The unique triangle she is in keeps you on pins and needles. Fast paced so you will not have any chance of losing interest. Let us not forget Joe either. We are still a captive here that is for sure with our emotions getting the best of us at times.
Another good episode of The Shattered Chronicles...And the story gets more twisted. I am enjoying taking this journey with all the characters. I still don't like certain aspects of the story and certain characters, however the story would not be the same. I think others will enjoy it as much as I did. There were new characters and the story went deeper. It will be interesting to see what happens next in the next episode. Ciana Stone has a way of writing that keeps you reading more and more and wanting more. I would recommend this series to others.
Defenseless....that's how I feel. We're five books into this series and I'm no less confused than when we first started. Just when I think I have a grasp on what's happening....BAM! Ms. Stone has always had a way of weaving so much into a story but she's definitely pulling out all the tricks with this series. What's going to happen next between Morgan, Cord and Victor? I guess we'll find out in episode 6.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
Ciana Stone offers unexpected complications to her story line. I thoroughly enjoy the unpredictability of her plot. While this does not affect the quality of her story, I'm personally concerned about the level of domestic violence and the toxic bonding in her relationship with Victor. I could understand duplicitous behavior dealing with an evil sociopath in an intimate forced relationship but not true feelings of love and loyalty. Should be interesting to see where the storyline takes us.
Another great book to the series with the author once again bringing an exciting story. She pulls you in with her detailed writing and vividly detailed scenes. The characters are strong ,realistic and well developed and the story moves quickly and smoothly with all the twists, turns and romance. Loved it!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
First several chapters are a true of the last "book"
First several chapters are a true of the last "book". Seems we are running out of things to write about so surroundings are being explain in extensive details. Next book I sm sure will tell us how many cracks each foot of the sidewalk in Tokyo has.
Sooo many conflicting issues, not with the book but within the story itself. So many twists and turns that you will never know what's going to happen next. Absolutely outstanding work. Once again Ciana Stone has delivered another first-rate book into our hands.
Intrigue, love, evil, lust, and world domination. Just a typical day in the life of an immortal being untrusted with saving mankind while maintaining the tedious balance between light and dark.
The fifth book in The Shattered Chronicles series and it is just getting better with each new book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I received an Arc of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I enjoyed the Cord & Morgan's story. Great characters. An intriguing read. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via an arc program.
Another sleepless night with this exciting page Turner. Truth or lies what is the reality? Good vs evil man this series is intense. Don't miss a single episode but start at the beginning.
This is the fifth book in The Shattered Chronicles. This story will take you on an emotional roller coaster. Warning, once you begin reading -you find it hard to stop. How could this book not be off the charts - Over the top chemistry and strong characters. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review. I loved Cord and Morgan’s story.
