My mom got this out from the library for me to help educate me about my next crazy leap—and also to give her an idea of what to worry about. It’s INCREDIBLY poorly written. It has the syntax one expects from a third grader. It also has an incredibly unhelpful habit of offering alarming tidbits of information that make you sit up, wanting to know more, only to move on without elaborating in the next sentence. Painfully obvious, unnecessary information is delved into in great depth (an actual line from this book, when listing out the items you should have on hand for eating purposes: “Mugs: Mugs can be used for any personal use, when you deal with liquid items or personal beverages” (pg 30). Yes, thank you. I DO actually understand the function of a mug. The function of every item in this list is explained, despite containing things like plates, spoons, pans, and can openers. Who needs an explanation of what you might need a can opener for? It says it’s function right in its name.), while things that ACTUALLY require more information are left dangling, like the bit about the apparently very real possibility of suffocating from exposure to harmful gasses if you don’t empty your black water tank often enough and/or have a faulty seal. Please, tell me more about this seal and the timeline for this possibility—I know NOTHING about this and I would very much not like to asphyxiate to death because I failed to service my toilet appropriately. Leave off your painstaking descriptions of everyday objects we are all well familiar with—focus on the RV specific things. That’s why we’re here, after all. 😑
This book is what it says it is. Considering nomadic lifestyle? Lots of good questions with solid information. It doesnt address the more personal issues but tells you what they may be. Good fast read.
I am reading about RVing whenever I get the chance. I can't do it myself (80 yrs. old and crippled from the waist down) but I sure like it when I get a book like this!! Lots of info that I haven't seen before. I may make it someday!!
