* NEW GAY WEREWOLF SHIFTER ROMANCE* He only knows himself as "Forty-Seven." His body is ravaged with scars from decades of beatings. And if Adam hadn't rescued him, naked, unconscious, and alone in the middle of the Alaskan forest, he'd be dead by now. Can he resist the frightening changes taking place in his own body? And can he and Adam escape the insane scientists and soldiers who won't rest until they're both dead? This is book one of two in a gay werewolf shifter romance with mature themes. 1 - The Hunt 2 - The Kill
This was definitely not easy to read at times. It was harsh, awful, frustrating, and appalling at so many moments. But that wasn't a comment on the book as a whole. There was a lot of "reality" to the story; not everything can be prevented, not every rescue will go as planned, not every laboratory of torture won't actually perform torture. You just can't have a believable story, no matter the genre, without some of the harsher sides to the tale. The Hunt was a great example of that.
And yet despite all the instances of depravity and bloodshed, there was hope, softness, and love. The interactions with Luna were my favorite. There's something immensely honest and sweet about the affection given to and received by an animal. I do wish there was more of a romantic build between Liam and Micah because it seems we jump very quickly from attraction to love. The more sensual moments felt out of place and not really cohesive to not just the story, but to the evolution of the relationship. Especially in the beginning when they felt incredibly awkward and disconnected. And while I'm absolutely NOT saying Micah should take the opportunity to experience things with other men, I felt slightly uncomfortable with how it's mentioned that Liam is the first and only kind person he's met and so that feeling quickly becomes love. It colors their love with something immature and desperate. There was probably a better way to write their relationship. Where they ended up though, that was getting them onto solid footing for anything more we learn and see of them as the series continues. I'm eager to see more from this.
Love, love, loved this book! This is the first volume in the Pandora Shifters duet, and it was the perfect introduction to the world the author has created. Micah is the unwilling subject of a cruel, inhumane experiment that turns humans into wolves. He is the only known survivor of the program, due to the torture inflicted on the subjects by a team of psychotic doctors who care more about their results than the people in their care. Micah makes a dramatic escape early in the story, and the pace is relentless from there on out. The first couple of chapters sucked me into the story, and I had trouble putting it down. I loved Micah, who somehow found a way to maintain his humanity under the worst kind of trauma imaginable. And I loved Adam, who was strong and steady and so generous, both with his home and his heart. The story ends in a happy-for-now, with one hell of a tease for the next book. I can't wait to get the conclusion to Micah and Adam's story!
This is a suspenseful, fast-paced shifter romance that is quite different from the normal shifter romances, it has a well-paced interesting plot with some good descriptive scenes. The two main characters (Micah, a wolf shifter & Adam, a human male) are basically thrown together & they learn to rely on each other while the attractions slowly flare. Adam’s brave & protective dog (Luna) It is filled with: twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, secrets, adventure, action, danger, threats, enemies, confrontation, violence, a secret laboratory, unethical experiments, sadistic psychotic doctors, torture, forcible shifting, escape, injuries, confusion, caring friends, distrust, black op hunters, conflict, admittance, devious plans, attacked, abduction, rescued, devastating news, some steam, declarations, love but sadly it does end with a cliffhanger.
I was going to give this book a 4/5 but the ending moved it to a 5/5 for me. I enjoyed this book! Number 47 (Micah) as he is referred Toby the people who have tortured him for years is a werewolf. The people holding him are trying to get him to shift into a wolf but nothing is working. One day he shifts unexpectedly, kills the lead doctor and escapes into the cold night. Micah has been held captive so long he does not know how to survive in the Alaskan wilderness. He is rescued by Adam before he freezes to death. Micah and Adam become good friends while he heals. Micah starts developing feelings for Adam but is afraid to reveal the truth to him about what he is. But that choice is taken out of his hands as the bad men find them. Adam and Micah will have to work together to free Micah and survive. I want to read the next one so I just purchased it.
This is the first part in a series and sets up a world with sadistic doctors, doing torturous things to people that they consider nothing more than numbers, be aware there is some of the medical ‘procedures’ on page.
This book is set A furious pace and doesn’t stop until the last page, which is a HFN and a cliffhanger. Micah and Adam are the main characters who are thrown together, quickly have to rely on each other to survive and eventually fall in love.
I found this to be an intriguing book that I didn’t want to put down reading some of what Micah went through was difficult especially at the beginning. We are ramping up to a confrontation to save others so the next book sounds like the pace will be as furious as this one.
Okay, so we have wolf shifters via genetic manipulation and a lab doing horrible things, then there seems to be this fated mate/instalove scenerio going on... I don't know if 3 stars is up or down from where it should be. The overall arc of this book one is interesting, but I didn't really like how it just seemed to jump from one scene to the next and how the characters just "bonded" and fell in love in a matter of days when one is human. This strained my sense of urban fantasy/paranormal.
KU, paranormal, action, MM, wolf shifter, military men, book in a series, standalone
This is the first book in The Pandora Shifters Series. An outstanding story with good writing. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were developed and thought out. Adam and Micah are the MC’s of this book. I really enjoyed this book and can recommend it as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Very cool concept of shifter. Shifter made in a lab, escape and finds a real home and love with the person who saves him. I love the world build, love that he had to figure out his abilities. This book was rather insta, they loved each other quickly but it was nice. This book does not end on a HEA, not even a HFN. Ends on a happy. Fading into the next book. The writing was good, the smexy was eh and the side characters were questionable at first.
This was definitely an intriguing read. I loved and really felt for Micah and everything that he went through, and Adam had a strength and sweet softness to him. This book was so well written that it just sucked me in from the beginning, and I cant wait to see what else will happen.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Book was well written and fast paced. I’d like the development between the two main characters while at times the plot was a little bit exciting and more focused on the sci-fi aspect, which was pretty fun. Definitely was a good read that went by well. It kept my attention for pretty much the whole time.
this was interesting... different from the normal shifter stories.. it made me curious and kept me interested. some parts were a tad bit slow but then it would pick back up and i enjoyed it a lot. i cant wait for the next one.
Micah adjusted too easily for being institutionalized his whole life. Adam was flakey, oscillating between suspiscious, clueless, and tough guy. Both men acted juvenile and approached events too simplistically.
