The poems and illustrations in this small collection are delightful and would capture the attention of any parent, grandparent or child who reads them. The illustrations complement the poems well and add whimsy. I think this is a group of wonderful poems for children, and I appreciate the variety of subject matter and tone throughout that will spark curiosity and invite thoughtfulness in readers of all ages. I liked the variety in structure, the differences in each poem’s rhyme scheme that is clever enough to grab the attention of readers but isn’t repetitive or overly simple. It’s a good level for children to experience and interact with in the sound and lyric quality of the poems, and a great level for them to read when learning about poetry.
