Designated one of the "Last Great Places" by The Nature Conservancy, the Roanoke River Basin contains the largest intact and least disturbed bottomland hardwood and cypress-tupelo ecosystem on the Atlantic coast of North America. During his three-year journey into the back swamps and forest of the Roanoke, Galie captured the subtle beauty found throughout the river basin in his stunning photographs He now shares these photographs in this intimate portrait of a special place.
