Whether you're stepping aboard for a week, a year, or a lifetime, The Intricate Art of Living Afloat is an indispensable companion in your adventure. Learn how to predict a squall; navigate customs; earn money as you go; cope with heart attack, malaria, or simple sunburn; gut and dry the fish you've caught; stretch your fresh water supply. Clare Allcard's insights to all of these topics, and many more, come directly from her own long experience in living afloat. With The Intricate Art of Living Afloat as your guide, soon you too will know both the satisfaction of self-reliance on the open sea and the thrill of sailing away into that blue yonder.
Allcard is my new hero. Though this book will be most useful to sailors and live-aboards, it could also be anyone's survival guide. Her anecdotes are generally hilarious and impressive. Pretty sure Allcard and her family have sailed to every port on earth, a 20+ year voyage. What a life!
The only thing I didn't enjoy were the outdated Brittish-isms and her recipes are suspect...maybe only because I'm not a real fan of English cuisine.
