The Aelore Tomes #1

Eyes of the Galaxy

Rate this book
It has been eight years since an Alien civil war entangled Earth in its crossfires. The Aelore's came to Earth, seeking refuge, unknowingly bringing their enemies, the Silores, down on the innocent planet. The Earth's surface was ravaged in the fight, and most of humanity exterminated. 15-year-old Tera Ward only remembers life in the underground tunnels known as the Colony. The Colony, where humans were forced to live once the Earth's surface became uninhabitable—at least that is what they have been taught. But strange things are happening to the children in the Colony, especially Tera and her best friend Kaiden. Dreams and visions plague them—a voice crying in the night asking its haunting question "who are you?", shadows lurking in the dark, a girl made of stars and galaxies. They do not understand what is happening, but one thing is becoming clear. Their simple existence in the tunnels is about to come to an end.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own
(3.3)
Let me start out by saying that I think that this is an excellent story idea. It has action, it has a plot, it has characters. When I began reading this book, I was very excited because it started on an interesting note.
However, there were a few things that I felt could be improved in this book. First of all, it was a short book packed with everything that might go into a longer book. It was hard to get to know the characters and their personalities and it was a little difficult to understand the story and get to know the world. I also felt like the action in the book wasn't very descriptive which made the book sort of dull
I do think that this has the potential to be a very good book if the author lengthened it and added a little more description. Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book and best of luck on her future career!

Eyes of the Galaxy by Jolene Skvarek is my kind of novel! It starts you in with the mystery of fifteen year old Tera’s dreams and slowly unravels the dire state the planet is in and how Tera can save it. This novel has some great twists, but my favorite portion is actually Tera and Kaiden’s interactions. They have a good rapport and I seldom left their scenes without an internal smile. Skvarek does a great job of making likeable characters making Eyes of the Galaxy a fun and worthwhile read!

I really liked this story. I thought it was a good plot, but I had some problems with it. Most readers would not notice but the mistakes in punctuation and a couple in handling dialog kept stopping me in my tracks. The story is fine and I would recommend it to anyone. The errors can be cleaned up easily in my opinion.
