Aliki has written and illustrated many books, both fiction and nonfiction, loved by readers throughout the world. The books were inspired by a word, an experience, or the desire to find out. Aliki lives in London, England.
Jack and Jake by Aliki is a children's book about two twin boys. Everyone calls Jack jake and Jake Jack; no one can tell them apart except their older sister. She the one telling the story about how everyone keeps calling them the wrong names and she doesn't understand why they can't tell them apart when its is very obvious to her. The book starts with the twins as newborns and it ends with them being in elementary school. At the end of the book it has a great message that no one is exactly alike even if they look alike. The illustrations in this book are nice. They show whats going on in the story. what caught my attention is the little word bubbles that the characters say. It shows what the characters say when they get one of the twins names wrong and how the sister sees what they are doing and what she thinks about it. I feel like this is a average children's book. It has a good message but it would not go after my favorite book category where I could read it over and over again. Although if I were trying to explain to children about how everyone is different, this is the book i would pick.
