This book is among a small group of books that changed the way I thought about my art.
Reading this book did two things for me:
1. Made me realize that Lichtenstein was more than just comic strip paintings.
2. Made me realize the way Lichtenstein approached his content was exactly the same as what I was doing, which gave me confidence and set me on the path. Lichtenstein went from someone I simply knew about to one of my favorite artists in the course of reading this book.
Alloway's essay was a lifechanger for me. A great book about a brilliant artist's work.
This book is a part of the "Modern Masters" Series. It's the 1st one I bought & it instantly got me hooked. I've always loved Pop Art, especially Roy Lichtenstein, so I had to read it. Overall, the Biography is "OK". I don't mean for that to sound bad. It's actually pretty good but it's not super in depth like an actual novel. It's really all the great pictures that you will mainly enjoy, pure eye-candy! There's a lot of great examples of this Artist's work, from all periods.
