Reeling over the death of a loved one, Amber is tasked to solve the mystery of missing children in a rural community. She soon learns that even monsters are afraid of the creatures of the night and that where there is one monster, there is bound to be a bigger one hot on its heels. Struggling with her diminished power, Amber must make a dark alliance that could affect her future. Embrace of Darkness is the 6th book in The Shadow Sorceress series.
Another great thrill of a read, however it does end in a cliffhanger. I enjoyed reading this book but it was alot sadder than the previous ones with her close friends either dying or abadoning her. She makes another deal with a demon and this book doesn't rely on the previous books much for the story. I enjoyed the action and how the story unfolded but I don't like where the story went with Victoria and Nic. My biggest complaint though is the grammer in the book there are alot of words in the wrong places which made me have to read some sentences a few times to understand what was going on. Usually I'm not as picky as some about this but really there are a few times I had to stop and reread the whole paragraph and then remove words to try and figure out what she was saying. One or two times doesn't really bother me but it happens at least once in every chapter. I would definitely ask someone new to proofread the next books.
I liked this better than the last one. Amber is constantly under attack and no one around her can really be trusted. Nic has good intentions but has his own agenda. Alaster is trying to increase his bond with Amber but seems to have his own agenda, too. A demon is hunting him and Amber and he is trying to convince Amber to let him in. Victoria is pondering Ambers trustworthiness and Amber wonders if Victoria still has her back. They are sent to find out why there are so many people going missing in a small town but is it a setup for something else. Ambers nemesis at the Elite seems to have it in for her and sent them in I’ll equipped to handle the problem. Ambers magic is still not working which put herself and Vitoria in danger. Looking forward to the next one.
As it approaches 4 in the morning, I just finished this one. Can't wait to get to the next one. There's a lot of action, angst, and a tiny bit of humor. Our heroine has once again lost her magic and doesn't know what to do about it. She's losing friends right and left and headed into guilt and depression. And facing trolls and "leather wings". Highly recommend.
I’ve enjoyed the books in this series but the author really needs to find a competent editor. The number of typos and scrambled sentences absolutely detracts from enjoyment of the story. If someone would clean these up they would be so much better and easier to read.
