Sew fifteen inspired designs with strong lines and quilted curves! Laced with retro-inspired circles and bold stripes, these modern quilts leave an unforgettable impression. Piecing circles, half circles, and quarter circles is easier than you think, and the authors will teach you to add movement and depth two ways―through easy strip sets or stripe-printed fabric. These aren't your typical Drunkard's Path quilts, but distinctive quilts for adventurous quilters! With block-based patterns, some improvisational piecing, and designs ranging from beginner-friendly to complex, there's something for everyone.
These young quilters have done a thorough job of describing how to sew curves to get the look you want for your quilt. There are some ideas I'd like to try using string blocks as a substitute for stripes. Aurora is my favorite quilt for looks. I LOVE the use of colors as they progress through the quilt. You can tell when quilt makers have been intensely into a subject, because they can point out all the things that might go wrong and how to avoid or fix them. This pair has done their homework! Good job.
This is a great option for style inspo or someone that wants to try a curve technique! Personally, I was drawn to the Aurora & Concert designs.
This definitely isn’t a book aimed towards beginners & “the basics” (Tools, materials, etc) is very superficial. Otherwise, my main critique is all these designs only have the instructions for one size.
This book had 3 quilts I'd make as pictured, and 2 that I would make with a different colorway. It was modern, but not in my style of modern. The directions for piecing a curve seemed good. The quilting instructions were a bit hard for me to follow.
I would make only a few of these quilts. What is valuable is the information on curved piecing, and also the provided templates are useful. With this information, one could make their own designs in their own style.
Two gifted quilters present modern quilt patterns involving curves and/or stripes. A must read for any quilter who wants wants a challenge and isn’t afraid to try.
