The second of the Ziza Todd mysteries takes place a few years after her first foray into sleuthing. In the interim she has been ordained and doing social work. Burned out after working with severely disabled children, Ziza accepts a job as the ecumenical head of the consolidated Sunday school program in Quarryville, New York. Before she has settled in, three mysterious deaths occur and Ziza is again doing more sleuthing than ministering. Quarryville is filled with quirky residents who are almost incestuously involved in each other's lives. McCullough seems more sure-footed in his storytelling this time and Ziza is more front-and-center than in the first book. The Hudson Valley, again, plays an important role in the tale and is lovingly depicted. Though I enjoyed this book more than the first (Think on Death) both are worth a gander.
