This is a difficult book to rate for me. I'd consider this a good introduction to the pre-Persian War history of Greek Ionia, but I feel that better analysis can be found elsewhere. Published in 1966, I feel that the archeological evidence which Huxley refers to has advanced beyond what he encountered in the mid sixties. The greatest value I found in this book was Huxley's sifting through ancient Greek historians for the most perinent bits of Ionian history.
