Investing in international real estate for dummies was an interesting book. There are certainly things I have taken away. At times it was a bit dry reading, but in other times it was better. Overall, a good book. I read it from start-finish. In the book it covers various real estate investment strategies and goes into details about them. It also has extras such as about the correct mind set, required professionals to support your property investments and some information on how property appraisal works.
As someone who worked in an estate agency previously in a dynamic role, I found a lot of the information what I already was aware of and got a bit bored when it was going on about becoming an estate agent…
Nonetheless, there are some really interesting parts of this book and I think it is will suited for the target audience. I found it helped build my knowledge in some areas I was less exposed to, such as.. what rent to rent is, HMO regulations/rules and more about commercial real estate.
The strategic perspective that this book gives is also insightful, as the author acknowledges that each strategy has benefits and drawbacks - each which may perform better or worse under certain market conditions and the importance of building resilience into a property portfolio to manage market conditions.
I think this won’t be the last dummies book I’ll be reading. :)
