"Where to start? I don't normally like books written in the first person, so found the first chapter difficult while I got used to it. But after that I was hooked. Velvet is well written. Her character is developed gradually, and the reader gets to know her over a few chapters. The descriptions are, well descriptive, but without being intense and boring. Just enough to let your imagination take over. No sparkly vampires - they're as beautiful, manipulative and nasty as you would expect a vampire to be, but also loyal, respectful and above all, sexy. The f word isn't overused, unlike other books that spring to mind. The sex is sometimes bawdy, sometimes gentle but never over done. I'm looking forward to seeing where Velvet goes from here."

"I really enjoyed the read. I found the main character relatable and down to earth. it was nice to see a lead female who was a little more mature (27) so no teenagers losing their virginity or madly falling in love at first sight.
The story kept me wanting to read more and after just the first chapter I was totally hooked. There is plenty of action, it's raw and gritty and I love how the vampires are malicious and very sexy. It also gives different takes on witches and hunters which I really enjoyed.
It is nice to see a strong female lead who doesn't rely on a man saving her all the time. Highly recommend and can't wait for the next book."

It was only when I was in my 30's that I got serious about writing, I was looking for a new outlet whilst being a full time carer and originally came up with a short story to occupy my mind... However that short story quickly turned in to The Velvet Chronicles.
I have always loved anything to do with the supernatural, vampires, werewolf's and all those things that go bump in the night, so wanted to create a book that incorporated those elements as well as a strong female lead. I had always been heavily influenced by other authors of vampire based books but always wanted that little bit more... more action, more blood, more sex... So I guess I wrote the book I wanted to read.
When I am not writing I follow my other passion, and that is being a geek. I love everything geeky and am privileged to help run the best geek group in the UK. So if you go to comic cons and geek events in England and Scotland, you may find me raising money for charity and geeking out. I am defiantly not your average author.

I picked this book up at comic con on a whim and I bloody love it I could not put it down although compared to clairs later work this is one of the weaker books this is expected as this is the first one the storyline is very enjoyable and creative and deffinatly worth the read and she certainly doesn't skimp on the saucy bits so if paranormal romance is your sort of things I would deffinatly recommend

My husband purchased me book 1 as an Xmas pressie. Personally signed by the author. I was addicted after the first few pages and in less than a week I had read all 5 books in the series. Now what am I supposed to do???? Seriously can't wait to see the outcome 😳😳😳 x

What can I say, I need to know more!
Velvet is such a kick ass character i want to be friends with her. I am off to get the next book because I just want to get more list in this world Claire L. Wilkinson has created.

I picked this book up at a convention I went to because I love reading new books. And I got hooked on it straight away. It is now one of my favourite books

I read this book on the recommendation of a friend.
It's ok, it feels a bit rushed but for what it is it's ok.
My main issue was all the errors in the writing - the wrong your, writing in the present tense then slipping into past tense, missing words. I'd recommend getting a proof reader before publishing, or get a new one :)
The writers bio here even has grammatical errors, and these combined with those in the books makes the writing appear sloppy.

Filled with action from the first few pages to the end of the book. Read the book in two sips.
The only downside is even as a non-native English speaker or writer, I could point out the grammatical errors. Though as it’s the authors first release, I’ll look through fingers.

I think I'm going to have to DNF this book. I'm struggling. The pace is rushed and the character actions are all over the place.
"No money to pay utilities... oh I'll just go clubbing."
"Creepy guy from bar shows up following you at the park, oh let me get your number!"
"I dont want to think about my problems I'll just get trashed *next few pages* actually now that I've had dreams about it, I want to face my problems head on and I don't want to hear reason."
"Gets mad at two separate people warning her not to do the thing.... *does the thing* then it's 'oh no what have I gotten myself into'."

A series you can easily fall into. The characters are easy to fall in love with and Velvets journey to discover who she is and how she fits into this mysterious world she gets thrown into has you hooked from book one.
The series is easy to read and leaves you wanting to know what happens next from book to book. would definitely recommend if you want something different to add to your reading list!

This is the first book I read from this autor and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book, very well writen with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of
this book.. come on! Can´t wait for book 2! Amazing job! If you love paranormal this one is definitely a must read!

Good start of the series
This story has a good blend of genres that should appeal to many. There's action, a bit of mystery/ intrigue and a dash of romance that I think will build in the stories to come. There is a lot of detail and twists in the story, not a light and easy read, but a really good one.

This was different for me, but I really enjoyed it. Lots of twists and turns I did not see coming. Glad I picked it up.
