Relax, sit back and escape to the idyllic Greek Islands with the first in a series of escapist summer tales from the USA Today bestselling author ...
Life is sweet for Joanna until the day she gets a call from a lawyer in Greece that knocks her for six. Her father, whom she has never met, has died. Her late mother was always reticent to discuss a vacation romance she had over two decades ago on a tiny Greek island called Skiathos, and Joanna - a hopeless romantic at heart - has always tried to fill in the blanks.
According to the lawyer, her father has left her an inheritance. The condition? Joanna must travel to the island to see it for herself...
Villa Azure: Escape to the Islands is by Melissa Hill. This is a quick summer read that takes you to Skiathos, Greece. It is a book that makes you want to make the trip to visit the Villa Azure or a hotel like it. Joanna Nelson has it made. She has just been promoted to senior editor of her magazine and she is set to move in with her boyfriend, Peter. Things seem to be going her way when she gets a phone call from Skiathos. She learns that her father has died and left her something; but she must come to Skiathos to receive it. Since Joanna has never known who her father was nor has ever met the man, she is skeptical. Her boyfriend figures out it must be a home of some kind and begins to imagine how much money she can get for the property. He encourages her to go so the transfer can be made and they will know what they are dealing with. Joanna finds herself in Greece being shown around by her Father’s lawyer. He takes her to the Villa Azure and tells her it is hers. Then he continues to tell and show her how much the town thought of her father. When he shows her letters from her Mother, she is confused. She didn’t think her Mother liked her Father nor had wanted to have anything to do with him. The more she learns, the more confused she becomes. Meanwhile Peter is lining up buyers for the hotel when they figure out where it is and she sees the view it has. What will Joanna do?
Any book set in Greece will always sway my judgement. Brilliant book. We have the main character Joanna who has just received a better job within her department at Herod publishing in NYC. She is debating about moving in with her safe boyfriend Peter but does he love her and does she love him? Joanna gets an unusual call from a Greek lawyer who tells her to come to Skiathos, I wouldnt need telling twice. She goes and the lawyer Nick is showing her around and what her assent father has left behind- a big hotel overlooking the sea. She has the make decision what to do with it and how will it work if she chooses to keep it? Whilst deciding she has read some letters between her mother and father, and these letters do judge her decision. A brilliant read .. I couldn't put it down.
I am so disappointed. I was expecting a lovely romance set in one of my favourite Greek islands but instead, there was a rather pedestrian short story with and one dimensional characters and hardly any romance..
This was one of a set of short stories in a collection called ‘Summer Days’. Disappointing.
Should be classified as a short story. As that it was okay, not much depth to it. Instead of spinning this out into a series of books (more money?!), the author might have been better off writing one good novel.
The story was OK, I quite enjoyed reading it. It's short, a quick read. However the kindle version has loads of spelling errors/wrong words which was distracting. There are also random words "highlighted" which make no sense.
Really disappointed as I bought this and others by the same author having already owned them by another author’Holly Greene’ and not made aware when purchasing that I already had them under a different author and title, I spend a lot of money on books and feel it unfair that authors do this
This novel is badly written with poor use of English. The story and characters are unconvincing. I was attracted by my love of Greek islands, but it could have been set anywhere.
I loved this book! It is a clean wonderful romance that shows how good love can be and how bad it can be of we let lack of communication rule your life.
The best of the four stories in this book. I did enjoy it, but because of the errors littered through it, grammatical and plot-wise I can't possibly rate it higher than a two stars.
Very good short book, but predictable but still enjoyed it and worth reading and would recommend. Just wish it was a bit longer and we found out if they renovated the hotel.
