This coffee table book provided great insight into the 1939 world’s fair. I became interested in the subject, because it was mentioned in another book I read recently. (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay).

The Fair takes place at a pivotal point in US history (I.e. The final years of the Great Depression and just prior to the US entry into WWII). This book looks at the fair from many perspectives and provides many photographs of fair attractions, merchandise and media coverage. All of this give a flavor of American Society at that time.

I was particularly fascinated by the fact that the USSR and Polish pavilions were shut down or repurposed during the fair due to events in Europe.
