Hilarious cheeky grumpy conversations transcribed. This is the way the people around me speak, what a wonderful resource so I can start to be a normal cheeky grumpy person in Mandarin instead of the stilted dork that other learning materials would have you become.

The layout is great, perfect for the intermediate learner, with dialogues presented in simplified characters, traditional characters and translation. These are each given in separate blocks of text which pushes character recall along far better than concurrent presentation. And no pinyin in sight! Saints be praised!

If you want to know how to flatter people to get ahead or tell off your tardy, good-for-nothing boyfriend in Mandarin, this is the language learning resource for you.

Sadly the CD is missing from my library copy. Perhaps I will ask some of my friends to act out the dialogues for my amusement.

The authors say this book was intended for those who've studied Chinese for at least one or two years (which I've done), but it would have still been helpful if the sentences came with pinyin, which they did not, much to my dismay. :(
