“A nice fantasy, gentle yet intriguing. I like the notion of a prince facing a coming-of-age initiation that is as simple as a walk in a garden, and as complicated as the interactions between gods and men.” – Piers Anthony
A Walk in the Garden is an elegant coming of age novel which teaches many life lessons about morality, faithfulness, trust, and virtue. The young Prince Carín meets fascinating people and experiences many challenges, all of which have lessons for him to learn.
His visit to the lovely and peaceful Garden of the Goddess is interrupted, however, by the godless Jarl who seek only to exploit the energies of the Garden for their own selfish ends. It is left to Carín to save the Garden from their evil machinery and restore the balance.
Chris was born in Olympia, WA and grew up in Tacoma, walking through the woods to school every day. He later moved to suburban San Jose, CA, deep in the land of sidewalks and swimming pools, where he became an avid bicyclist and soccer player, even traveling to play in England as a teen. He attended a year of college at UCI in Irvine, CA.
His first published book, A Walk in the Garden, went through its final lengthy revision in a giant, haunted, three story cement pillbox of a house next to a graveyard on a former commune in Creswell, OR.
Chris usually works in sales, currently in home furnishings, formerly in diamonds, insurance, pianos, and anywhere he can stay warm and dry and make a quick buck. He has worked as a programmer, game and website designer.
Chris has three children, raised two step-daughters -- plus his grandson for a few years -- and is currently wrangling his young and stunningly beautiful fiance's awesome pre-teen twins. He says empty-nesting is for quitters.
After a lengthy hiatus, Chris has begun writing again, completing four novels plus a novel-length series of short stories, or what he terms episodic fiction, in the last two years. He has launched his own website, http://ChristopherLHannah.com and is preparing to create an electronic self-publishing empire en route to taking over the world. The wedding will be on the most romantic beach in the world, in the Dominican Republic.
