Cute, yet not too cute easy-reader picture book about a mostly lovely day in the life of Cat Boy and his tuxedo cat, named Cat, apparently. Cat is not happy when Cat Boy has to go shopping with his Mum. The book seems to be set in England, although a specific country is never mentioned.
Although Cat loves bread and jam, I really can't recommend letting your cat eat that. And yes, cats will eat it. Contrary to popular misconception, cats do not instinctively know what foods are bad for them.
The illustrations are better than the text. They are wonderfully free-flowing full color works by Clara Vulliamy, daughter of an architect and author-artist Shirley Hughes (who?) Her two nephews were the models for Cat Boy. Hope she paid well. No mention of any cat being the models for Cat.
