Tangled with a Texan marks my first time reading Yvonne Lindsay. I can definitely say it won't be the last time. Tangled with the Texan is the eighth book in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Houston series. It is only the third book I've read in the series, and I found it to be a completely standalone read. In fact, none of the key series characters make appearances at all. Through the epilogue, you do find out what the series villain is thinking.

In Tangled with a Texan, third-generation police detective Zoe Warren is trying to find out who killed Vincent Hamm, an employee of Perry Holdings, whose body was found at the construction site of the Texas Cattleman's Club Houston location. Following a lead, Zoe travels from Houston to Royal with the sole purpose of speaking with local rancher Jessie Stevens. Her efforts become stalled when Jesse's neighbor and best friend Cord Galicia gets involved. Cord knows Jesse would never kill anyone and with Zoe not taking his word for it, he sets out to distract her. He just never expects his method of distraction to turn into true feelings.

Zoe and Cord are opposites in every way. She's a city girl and he's a small-town guy. He wants a wife and kids to carry on the Galicia legacy. She wants to prove that a woman is just as good of a cop as a man. What they do have in common is their desire and attraction for one another. But for these two, the biggest problem is that Zoe is a cop through and through and risks her life every single day.

I loved these two together. I loved their back-and-forth banter. I loved the way they each tried to fight their feelings. I loved watching them come together. I think that if the story would have brought out more emotions from me, it would have been a five-star read.

As far as the series arc goes, I think I’ve figured out who the villain is. I just haven't really figured out why. As with the other books I've read, the epilogue is intriguing and has me chomping at the bit to read the next book, Hot Holiday Rancher, which happens to be a Christmas romance written by Catherine Mann.

**Received a copy of the book from the author and voluntarily reviewed. I also purchased my own paperback copy.**

Houston Detective Zoe Warren is trying to catch a killer. When one of her leads takes her to the small ranching town of Royal, she comes face-to-face with sexy rancher Cord Galicia. Cord knows Zoe is on the wrong track: not only is his best friend not a killer; he is dealing with the illness of his sister, the only family he has left. So Cord does what any friend would do and steps in to distract Zoe and keep her away from his friend. It really isn’t too difficult as their chemistry is off the charts…if only she had a different profession.
This was an enjoyable and quick read, as Zoe and Cord are interesting and well-developed characters with their own aspirations, loyalties, and flaws. They both have their own baggage that they need to overcome to have the opportunity to move forward and find their own happily ever after, both alone and as a couple.
This is part of the Texas Cattleman’s Club series, but can easily stand alone, as it focuses on the two characters and details of the murder and the ensuing investigation are woven into the story.
I have enjoy Yvonne Lindsay’s story-telling in the past and this one is no exception!

TANGLED WITH A TEXAN by Yvonne Lindsay is the eighth book in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Houston series and is sure to enthrall reader's of the series. We are quick to be drawn into the story line of new players on the scene when a detective from Houston tangles with a local rancher in this explosive read.

Zoe bursts on the scene as a detective from Houston who is heading to Royal, TX to find out who had motive to murder the guy on the land of the Texas Cattleman's Club.

Cord is willing to play hard ball and distract the headstrong cop because he is protective of his friend and neighbor Jesse when she starts pushing her weight around in order to question him right at the time that there's a bit of a family emergency.

The chemistry between Zoe and Cord was attention grabbing, and I recommend this book to anyone enjoying a lot of sass and controversy in their romance. The characters were a fun addition to the ones we already know in the series, and the story added a nice bit of drama. Looking forward to more to come in the series as we head towards finding out who is behind the trouble.

Tangled with a Texan is Yvonne Lindsay’s latest contribution to Harlequin Desire’s Texas Cattleman Club: Houston series. Zoe Warren comes to town to investigate a murder. One of her prime suspects is Cord Galicia’s best friend. When she can’t locate him, she seeks out Cord for answers.

Cord is a rancher who has taken over his family’s operation but also has dreams of his own. He is also protective of his best friend which raises Zoe’s suspicions. As Cord and Zoe grow closer together, will Zoe put an end to the murder investigation? Will Cord find the answers he’s searching for?

Tangled with a Texan is a standalone book in the series. I would recommend reading the other books in the series as it will provide the reader with a little more of the backstory. I highly enjoyed this book. I’d like to disclose that I received an advance copy. This is my true and honest opinion.

Zoe goes to a small town to investigate a crime and ends up "tangled" with a close friend of her suspect. Eventually he realizes he has issues he needs to overcome in order to be with her and handle a long distance relationship. She has to realize that her independence and dedication to her career is not worth throwing away a chance at romance.

Overall it was not a bad read. I am not a fan of the series being tied to other books, so that element took me out of the story. I had hoped she would solve the crime in this book....so for that I had to take a little off. I did like that for a switch it was not the woman giving up everything to be with her man.

Is it just me or does anyone else notices how the covers do not match the inside description on a lot of books lately? He said she had short, tousled hair, and that cover doesn't match that. Also, is she supposed to be Hispanic as well ?

While this book is part of the latest Texas Cattleman's Club sub-series from Harlequin Desire, I haven't yet read any of the Texas Cattleman's Club: Houston books, so I can confidently say that while this book does build in the other books, it is not reliant on the other books for the story to make sense.
Hero Cord does not have an easy road to trusting and falling in love with heroine Zoe - given what is shared in the book regarding his past, it is hardly surprising that her job makes that a challenge for him. Zoe is a character that I love simply due to her fierce independence even if it is sometimes too extreme.
A good read, that's going to make me find the associated books and read them.

Love the TCC books. This was no exception! Lots going on in the book and it has me wishing the next book was out now! Zoe goes to Royal to talk to a suspect. While there she meets Cord! He is trying to obstruct her investigation of his best friend Jesse. While she is in Royal the two hook up until she learns what he has done. She goes back to Houston! We also find archenemies agreeing to a truce, a big time clue to who is trying to rip the Houston Texas Cattleman Club up and Ryder is On the way home to finally get the truth from her dad of her adoption.

Intense. Zoe is a fighter, independent and passionate. Cord is still recovering from a tragic loss. Family means everything to both. A murder still under investigation is still a mystery. Two families at odds forever are trying to see their way to peace because of their children. Can’t wait to see the conclusion to this series. With Cord and Zoe finally love won out because of Cord’s devotion, love and determination. Zoe was very close to ruining her life forever. Too stubborn and independent for her own good.

I really enjoyed this sexy Texan Cowboy story. Tangled With A Texan, by Yvonne Lindsay, pits rancher Cord Calicia against feisty Houston police detective Zoe Warren, a couple who send sparks flying in every direction from their first meeting, not only in terms of the bedroom but also in terms of who is in control of each meeting. I loved the clashes between these two just as much as I loved their saucy bedroom antics. This book was pure entertainment from start to finish.

Wonderful spin-off series of the Texas Cattleman‘s Club, Houston. The characters were very realistic, with a sprinkling of people from previous books tossed in for interest. An intriguing thread of menace runs behind the storyline and I’m sure, will lead us through this series of books. Well done!

Just finished this and it was cute!

Typical 'can't resist each other' Mills and Boon attraction BUTTTT I liked that the MMC made more than a small effort to prove that he really cared about her in a for ever sort of way. I also liked that the FMC was career-driven and stayed true to herself.

BUTTT the actual plot - so they crime FMC is investigating is completely forgotten about at the end and there were a few random scenes with random characters whom I'm assuming will be from another story that will continue solving the case otherwise I'm super confused because HELLO I wanna know who did it!!
Also didn't like how rushed the ending was - FMC took less than five minutes to change her mind so felt a bit forced BUT obvs word count constraints for fair enough...

Otherwise, overall it was probably one of the better Mills and Boon books!
