How do we prepare our children to cope with the racially charged culture that we currently live in? How do we help them find their value amongst the infinite, variety of ethnicity that populates our world? This book; “A RABATROSITY” by David Poling, is a wonderful start. The book targeted at young children, tells the story of RAB a sweet new born creature, who doesn’t know where he fits in. It seems he is a conglomeration of different animals, but when he confronts any of them, he is met with disdain. It isn’t until he gets help from the king of the forest and a wise old bird, that RAB finds the tribe where he belongs and is welcomed into his family by his parents.
The book faces prejudice and shows how it can be dealt with through love. Told in a very simple and sweet style, “A RABATROISTY” speaks to every wide-eyed kiddo, that the world is full of wonderful and amazing creatures including them.
