Ümit Özdağ was born in Tokyo, Japan on 03.03.1961. The family returned to Turkey at the end of 1963. Ümit Özdağ spent his childhood in Turkey.

Ümit Özdağ completed his primary, secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College. Ümit Özdağ began his political struggle in the idealist movement at Çankaya Ülkü Ocakları and Ankara College in Ankara during his high school years.

Ümit Özdağ completed his higher education at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich between 1980-1986. He studied at the faculties of political science and philosophy at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. Ümit Özdağ prepared his master's thesis on "Planned Development and State Planning Organization in Turkey".

Ümit Özdağ started working as a research assistant at Gazi University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1986. In 1990, he became a doctor of political science with his study on “Army-Politics Relations in the Period of Atatürk and İnönü”.

Dr. Özdağ received the title of associate professor of political theory in 1993 with his thesis on “Army-Politics Relations in the Period of Menderes and the Military Movement of May 27”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ started publishing and edited the three-month international relations and strategic research journal called “Eurasia File”, which was published until 2004.

Özdağ, who has been conducting research on terrorism and ethnic problems since the late 1980s, conducted socio-political field research in the provinces that received migration from Eastern, Southeastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia provinces in 1995.

Ümit Özdağ conducted research on globalization and ethnic problems in Eurasia at Towson University in Baltimore, USA in 1997-1998 and gave lectures on the same subjects.

Ümit Özdağ founded the Eurasian Strategic Research Center (ASAM), one of the largest strategic research centers in the world and the first of the modern strategic research institutions in Turkey, in 1999. In 2000, he founded the Armenian Research Institute, which operates under ASAM. Ümit Özdağ served as the president and chairman of the board of directors of ASAM until 2004.

Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ founded and chaired the think tank called “21st Century Turkey Institute” in 2005.

Ümit Özdağ gave lectures and conferences not only at Gazi University, where he is a faculty member, but also at the Military Academy, Police Academy, Police Intelligence Department, National Security Academy, National Security Academy Public Diplomacy Courses, Justice College and the Ministry of Interior.

Prof. Dr. Özdağ has given conferences at various universities and research centers in Washington, Moscow, Tokyo, New Delhi, Cairo, Alexandria, Brussels, Tehran, Bishkek, Alma Ata, London, Munich and Tel Aviv. He has also participated in congresses in many countries and presented papers.

Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ, who works on security sciences, intelligence science, low-intensity conflict, ethnic issues, the European Union, Eurasia and the Middle East, has twenty-eight published books. He has published 11 books that he edited. He has four books translated from German. He has over 300 articles published in magazines and newspapers such as Avrasya Dosyası, Stratejik Analiz, Türk Yurdu, 21 Yüzyıl. Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ speaks English and German.

Ümit Özdağ, who organized a commemoration event on the 99th anniversary of the August 26 Great Offensive, officially founded the Zafer Party with 194 founding board members by submitting the foundation petition of the Zafer Party to the Ministry of Interior on this meaningful day.

Ümit Özdağ is the father of 9-year-old Alp.

Arkadaşlar kitap gayet akıcı ve anlaşılır, sıkılmazsınız. Genel çerçevede Suriye İç Savaşının ülkemizdeki etkilerine özet olarak değinilmiş sonunda da ne gibi önlemler alınabilire cevap vermiştir. Özellikle göçmen sorununda, yeni şeyler kesinlikle öğreneceksiniz.

Ümit hocanın kitaplarını, günümüzde yaşanan olayları bir siyaset bilimi profesörü olarak akademik bir dille ele aldığı için seviyorum.

Göçün neler getirdiği ve getirebileceği hakkında güzel özetlenmiş bir yazı dizisi gibi. Yakın siyasi tarihide içeriyor ayrıca. Okunması gerek siye düşünüyorum.
